Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Oberman.
Hi Paul, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Oberman Tutoring was founded in 2023 based on Dr. Oberman’s 34 years of educational experience. We believe that all students can learn, and having a caring, knowledgable adult working with you can make all the difference. We encourage active student learning and love when students are curious enough to ask their own meaningful questions. We believe that deep learning leads to increased confidence and self-efficacy, and that students who believe in themselves based on their understanding and accomplishments will succeed.

Oberman Tutoring specializes in
Preparation for the SAT and the ACT, as well as the PSAT and SSAT
COVID-catch-up for those who were not able to learn effectively via video conferencing
Helping students gear up and gain confidence over the summer in preparation for the year ahead
Keeping up academics for those who find them challenging
Additional challenge and fun with academics for those who already love learning
In addition to SAT and ACT prep, we currently tutor in Math, Science, History, Spanish, French, Economics, and more. If you don’t see the subject you are looking for, just ask!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I knew that it would be important to find schools that would allow me to tutor during the day, so we were not exclusively an after-school business. This was initially quite challenging.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We actively partner with parents AND teachers AND students, so that the team can work together for the success of the student. We communicate with all constituencies after every session. Our individualized 1-on-1 approach, where the relationship betweeen the student and the tutor is critical, is what really sets us apart. We are also available for signups via calendly, which makes us quite accessible!
Dr. Oberman has been a teacher, school principal, and head of school for over 34 years. He has a deep love and understanding of math, and even more, a keen knowledge of the education process, how students learn, and how to help all students develop a confident and curious approach to math.
Dr. Oberman earned a PhD in educational psychology and has led a wide range of schools. Dr. Oberman believes that ALL students can learn math, and having a caring, knowledgable adult working with you can make all the difference.
Dr. Oberman’s role as head of school and his understanding of the parent partnership directly inform his emphasis on regular, timely, and detailed communication with parents and, where appropriate, teachers and students themselves.
Dr. Oberman believes in active student learning and encourages students to pose questions of their own. His love for mathematics is contagious!
