Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ FIESE.
Hi DJ, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Grew up in Woodstock. Played golf in college at Georgia State. Played golf professionally for 9 years. Ran out of sponsors in 2009 and started my first business in 2010. Built that business for 7 years and sold it in 2017. Spent a year in the craft beer business with an upstart local brewery in Atlanta. Realized it wasn’t for me. Bought Joe’s Auto in 2018 in my hometown. Almost 7 1/2 years later, Joe’s is a Woodstock staple and I have loved the auto repair business and my customers since day 1. We are fortunate to have great people in and around Woodstock that allow us to work on their cars.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of the bumps along the way were me maturing as a business owner and understanding how to motivate and empower employees to be successful. Any time you start a business or buy one, there is a learning curve. Understanding that and adapting is a lesson I try to improve upon every day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Joe’s Automotive?
We are a local auto repair shop in Woodstock. We specialize in diagnostics and repair. We are known for our honesty and customer service. We focus on educating our customers about their car and any repairs. We treat customers as the most important part of our business and that is what sets us apart from others. We want people to know that we are going to be completely honest with them every time they come in. It’s not just words either, we want people to feel that way regardless of whether they choose to use us or not.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Genuinely caring. Customer service. Fixing the car correctly the first time. Lastly, it’s as simple as being a good human being. All of my guys are respectful and treat the customers’ cars with respect.
