Community Highlights: Meet Alisa Hutchins of Hutchins Financial Harmony

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisa Hutchins.

Hi Alisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Years ago I was working in the restaurant industry when I learned that Athens Area Technical College was offering degrees in Computer Programming. With a long-standing interest in numbers and logic, I decided to enroll and graduated as a member of the National Vocational Technical Honor Society.
This led to an opportunity at The University of Georgia, where I worked in Financial Information Systems. Over my 17-year tenure, I collaborated closely with the Accounting, HR, and Payroll departments to build software systems and eventually managed payroll for the University. In 2017, I retired from the University to travel with my husband for his career, experiencing the beauty of both U.S. coasts and the opportunity to visit Canada and Mexico. During this time, I also managed a relative’s rental property and maintained their financial records. In 2024, I decided to channel my skills into starting my own business, Hutchins Financial Harmony. As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, my goal and passion is to help others achieve financial harmony through excellence in bookkeeping.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Marketing has been one of my biggest challenges. Starting a business is never easy, it can be expensive, confusing, and full of trial and error! There are countless companies offering to “help businesses” with everything from boosting Google profiles to redesigning websites, and it’s hard to know where to invest your time and money.

This summer, I stepped back from social media to research the best marketing options for my business. In September, I joined my local Chamber of Commerce, which has opened new opportunities for local networking. I also started using scheduling software to plan my social media posts in advance, helping me stay consistent and post at the most active times of day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hutchins Financial Harmony is a bookkeeping business built on the belief that financial clarity brings peace of mind. I help business owners understand their numbers so they can make confident, informed decisions. My goal is to take the stress and confusion out of bookkeeping and replace it with organization and confidence.
I provide full-service bookkeeping for businesses, including monthly financial tracking, reconciliations, payroll support, and customized reporting. I specialize in helping businesses and nonprofits stay organized and financially healthy. Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, patient approach and how I make the numbers “make sense.”
I believe bookkeeping should feel like a partnership, not a transaction. I take time to really understand each client’s business and goals, so the books reflect more than just numbers, they tell the story of where the business has been and where it’s going. I also emphasize clear communication and education, helping clients feel empowered rather than overwhelmed.
I’m proud that Hutchins Financial Harmony truly lives up to its name. My brand represents balance between professionalism and approachability, between accuracy and understanding. Many of my clients say working with me feels like a weight lifted off their shoulders, and that means everything to me.

How do you think about happiness?
What truly makes me happy is helping other people. I find real joy in supporting my clients and seeing the relief on their faces when their finances finally make sense. I love helping business owners move from feeling overwhelmed or uncertain to feeling confident, organized, and in harmony with their financial picture.
There’s something deeply rewarding about knowing that my work gives people back their time and mental space so they can focus on what they love most about their business. Helping others find that sense of balance and confidence. That’s what keeps me motivated every day.
