Community Highlights: Meet Enika McClain of Mindful Healing Health and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Enika McClain.

Hi Enika, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up, I was deeply inspired by the care my grandmother and my mother, one of
sixteen siblings, showed to others. Their example instilled in me the understanding that
no matter what life throws your way, having someone there to support you can make all
the difference. I found profound joy and purpose in helping my mother care for my baby
sister, and that experience set me on the path to a lifelong calling.

Hello, my name is Enika McClain. I am a Dual Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and
Family Nurse Practitioner with over 26 years of varied nursing experience.

Becoming a nurse practitioner was my way of deepening my commitment to healing.
Nursing taught me to listen with intention, advocate passionately, and care with my
whole heart. But I wanted to do more—diagnose, treat, and lead with both expertise and
kindness. This role empowers me to do just that, blending clinical skill with the genuine
compassion that first drew me to healthcare.

I believe healing is more than just prescribing medication—it’s about building trust,
offering education and standing beside you every step of your health journey. Whether
managing chronic conditions, promoting prevention, or supporting families through
difficult decisions, I am grateful to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

After years of clinical practice, I realized that another greatest fulfillment came not only
from caring for patients, but from mentoring new nurses—helping them grow in
confidence, competence, and compassion.

Teaching allows me to shape the future of nursing by instilling critical thinking, ethical
practice, and a deep respect for the human experience. I strive to create a learning
environment that is inclusive, challenging, and supportive—where students feel
empowered to ask questions, make mistakes, and discover their own strengths.

Ultimately, I became a nursing instructor to give back to the profession that has given
me so much. By guiding the next generation, I hope to leave a legacy of excellence,
empathy, and lifelong learning.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the most difficult moments in my career was facing the reality that I couldn’t provide care when my community needed it —because I had contracted COVID-19 myself. As a nurse practitioner, my instinct is to show up, to serve, and to support others through their most vulnerable times. Being sidelined by illness felt like a personal and professional loss.

The physical symptoms were challenging, but the emotional toll was even greater. I grappled with guilt, helplessness, and the fear of letting my patients and colleagues down. Yet, this experience deepened my empathy and reminded me that even providers are human—we too need rest, healing, and grace.

Coming back to practice after recovery, I carried with me a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the fragility and resilience of both patients and providers. It reinforced my commitment to holistic care, not just for others, but for myself as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I founded Mindful Healing Health and Wellness because I believe everyone deserves
compassionate, personalized support through life’s emotional and mental health
challenges—whether you’re a child, adult, or elder. Through telehealth services, we
walk alongside you, offering care tailored to your unique journey, whether you’re facing
anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, trauma, or the
everyday stresses life brings.

In addition to traditional medicine, our practice embraces holistic approaches like
functional medicine, which includes nutrition, herbal supplements, and lifestyle
adjustments. We honor the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and dedicate
ourselves to uncovering the root causes of your struggles rather than simply addressing
symptoms.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Mental health is the foundation of overall well-being, and I’ve seen how emotional struggles can quietly impact every part of your life. My goal is to be someone who truly understands that pain and offers safe, empathetic care to help you move through it. Here, you will find a space where your story is heard, your feelings respected, and your strengths honored.

With the autonomy my role provides, I am able to advocate for you fully diagnosing, treating, and walking with you in a way that honors your whole humanity. It’s a privilege I cherish deeply, and one I commit to every day.
