Meet Kate Bolia of Dunwoody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Bolia.

Hi Kate, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into entrepreneurship began when I realized there was a real gap in how people were being cared for. Too often, clients with pain or movement issues were bounced around between providers without getting the kind of integrated support they truly needed. I wanted to change that.

In 2019, I launched APEX Dunwoody to create a boutique performance and longevity studio where people could finally access personalized, science-driven care in one place. As a Muscle Activation Technique Specialist and back pain assessment specialist, I focus on helping clients get out of pain, rebuild strength, and move with confidence. Over time, APEX has grown into a collaborative space that blends training, recovery, and partnerships with other providers so clients feel fully supported in their journey.

The most rewarding part of this work is watching people who felt stuck reclaim their lives — whether that means getting back to the gym, the golf course, or simply enjoying time with their families without pain. For me, APEX Dunwoody isn’t just a business; it’s a community where resilience, strength, and longevity come to life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I was doing everything myself — serving clients, managing schedules, handling marketing, and running the business side all at once. It was overwhelming at times, and the financial pressure of building something from the ground up was very real.

The hardest part has been finding ways to grow while keeping the boutique, personal feel that makes APEX unique. There have been plenty of obstacles, but those challenges taught me resilience and pushed me to create a stronger foundation. In the end, the struggles are what shaped APEX into the community hub it is today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At APEX Dunwoody, my focus is helping people move out of pain and feel strong in their bodies again. A lot of my work centers on identifying what’s really going on beneath the surface — as a Muscle Activation Technique Specialist and back pain assessment specialist, I’m able to look at how the body is functioning, not just where it hurts. From there, we create a plan that blends strength training with recovery tools like red light therapy and PEMF so clients can rebuild confidence in how they move.

What makes us different is the experience. So many people come to me after being bounced around from place to place without real answers. At APEX, everything is designed to feel supportive and personal. Clients know they’re not just getting a workout or a quick fix — they’re getting a team that cares about their long-term health and longevity. Seeing someone walk back in and say, “I can do things now I didn’t think were possible again” — that’s what sets APEX apart, and that’s why I love what I do.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is that my own journey into this work started because of my back. I’ve had a few serious back injuries over the years, and there were times when I felt like I might never move or feel the same again. That experience is what led me to discover Muscle Activation Techniques. The results were life-changing — it gave me back my strength and confidence.

It made such a difference for me personally that I knew I had to pursue it as a career. I wanted to help other people who were struggling the way I had been. So when clients come to APEX Dunwoody with pain, frustration, or fear of not being able to do the things they love, I understand exactly where they’re coming from. I’ve been there myself, and that’s what drives the passion behind what I do.
