Conversations with Matteo And Matthew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matteo And Matthew.

Hi Matteo and Matthew, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We’re Matthew and Matteo, and together we own TwinScapesATL. We started this company about three years ago — back when Matteo was 14 and Matthew was 16. We were neighbors and childhood friends, and we both had one thing in common: we never liked the idea of working for someone else. From the very beginning, we had big dreams, but we never knew how big it would get. We never knew how far we would go.

At first, things were tough. We started going door-to-door, trying to find any jobs we could. Most people didn’t take us seriously because of our age. Still, we kept at it. Even when doors closed, we’d go back out the next week and knock again. The jobs we did land, we made sure to take pictures of and share on Facebook so people could see the quality of our work. That became one of the first ways we built trust.

A few months in, we realized we had to present ourselves differently. We got business clothes, created a logo, and started showing up like professionals. One of our biggest goals back then was just to get a truck. Until then, our parents were driving us to quotes and jobs, and sometimes we’d even ride our bikes to get to a client’s house. We also started with very little — just a few shovels and a small electric leaf blower. We made plenty of mistakes at the start, especially undercharging. There were times we’d spend days doing a simple cleanup job because we didn’t yet understand how to price our work. But every mistake became a lesson.

Fast forward to now, and everything looks different. Today, we run TwinScapesATL with a crew of hardworking and experienced guys. We’ve got two trucks, consistent work, and clients who trust us with everything from residential homes to commercial businesses.

Matthew has since graduated high school and is now fully invested in the business. Matteo is enrolled in a school made for business owners, which means he only goes a few days a week and spends the rest of his time working alongside Matthew to grow TwinScapesATL.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Every door we knocked on, every mistake we made, every late night planning — it’s all led us here. And even though we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we know this is just the beginning. Our goals are even bigger now, and we’re ready to keep pushing TwinScapesATL to the next level.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, one of our biggest challenges was simply being taken seriously. We were so young that a lot of people didn’t believe we could handle the work. Going door-to-door and hearing “no” over and over was tough, but we kept pushing. Another big obstacle was not having the right equipment or transportation. Our parents had to drive us to jobs, and sometimes we even rode our bikes just to give quotes. On top of that, we made mistakes with pricing — charging way too little and ending up stuck on jobs for days. Even though those times were hard, every challenge taught us something and made us stronger as business owners.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re young and ambitious, and this business is what we really care about. We have experience now and handle all types of landscaping including design, cleanups, maintenance, and installations. We also build patios, pathways, and retaining walls, and we’re starting to expand into concrete and fencing. We work with contractors, commercial properties, and residential clients. We care about the results, and we’re passionate about what we do.

What are your plans for the future?
In the future, we want to expand our business so that everyone in Atlanta knows who we are. When people think about landscaping problems or need someone to call, we want them to think of TwinScapesATL first.
