Conversations with Corbett Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corbett Wright.

Hi Corbett, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a graduate of Brown barber college. I started cutting in present location in the spring of ‘96 under Calvin Miller(TRM💈). I became owner and renamed shop in 2007. The new name I created was Cj’s Barber & Beauty Shop Llc. I am about to celebrate 30years here and I feel as if I am just getting started 🙏🏿

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were plenty of struggles. Stylist not getting along with each other. Astronomical power bills. Falling behind on rent for several years straight. Stylist disappearing when time to pay booth rent. But, through it all I wouldn’t change anything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a master barber/ owner. I cut and style men, women and children’s hair. I specialize in quality cuts and customer service. I feel like what separates me from other barbers is my dependability and professionalism. I am most proud to have been in same location for almost 30years

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is just taking a chance on yourself, which I did by opening shop. I had no capital at the time nor the business know how to open a shop. I just had and idea . And what I learned was that you just have to jump and have faith. Everything I needed manifested itself , capital and people once I started
