Meet Ervin Howard of EMH Website Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ervin Howard.

Hi Ervin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After earning my degree in Computer and Information Science from Elizabeth City State University, I was inspired by my passion for technology to help small businesses with antivirus installations, hardware setups, and software configurations—often pro bono, as my goal was to see them succeed. Encouraged by family and friends, I launched my part-time business, EMH Website Designs, beginning humbly as a website designer helping local businesses establish their presence on the World Wide Web. I later earned a Master’s in Instructional Technology and a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Instructional Design for Online Learning. Because professional opportunities in North Carolina were limited, my wife, Naomi, and I decided to relocate to Georgia, where I accepted a full-time position as an Instructional Designer at the University of North Georgia. Alongside my academic role, I continue to grow EMH Website Designs, now expanding its focus to include instructional design consulting and the development of digital badging solutions for future collaborations with BBQ Pitmasters’ training programs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges in finding my niche has been securing a full-time Instructional Designer position that allows me to fully utilize my Ph.D. in Education. While living in North Carolina, opportunities in this field were limited. However, with God’s guidance and the unwavering support of my wife, I continued to seek innovative ways to showcase my skills and leverage my educational background as a strong foundation for creating additional streams of income.

EMH Website Designs is a website design company dedicated to serving small businesses, large enterprises, churches, and organizations seeking professional online presence. I specialize in creating custom websites, securing domain names, and setting up web hosting through a trusted third-party provider, GoDaddy. In addition, I help businesses optimize their visibility by ensuring they appear in Google search results.
Recently, I introduced an exciting new service in digital badging technology, which allows training programs to award participants with verified digital credentials that showcase their achievements and skills. To demonstrate this initiative, I am beginning with BBQ Pitmasters’ training classes, highlighting how digital badges can enhance their programs by enabling students to share their verified accomplishments across social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
