Today we’d like to introduce you to April Friday.

Hi April, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I wanted to share a bit about my journey into event planning and how Lavish And Luxe Events came to be.

My interest in event planning started in late 2009 or early 2010 when a family member asked for my help decorating a baby shower. I’ve always had a strong creative side, drawn to decor, arts, and putting things together. This creativity also extended to helping a friend in real estate stage houses, which was another early niche for me.

After that initial baby shower, event planning became a hobby throughout 2010 and 2011. I took on small events, mostly baby showers for friends. A pivotal moment came when a friend, who worked at a popular hookah bar in Atlanta, asked for my help planning the grand opening of a new location. She introduced me to the restaurant owner, and the event was a huge success.

From then on, I knew I had something special. I wanted to approach event planning professionally and strategically, understanding the competitive nature of business in Atlanta. To succeed, I recognized the importance of being fully committed, knowledgeable, assertive, and confident in my abilities.

However, life took its course. Our family grew from one child to eight (five biological and three bonus children), and things became quite hectic. By 2018-2020, while I was still taking on events and working, I wasn’t fully committed to building my business as I had initially envisioned.

It took several conversations to reignite my passion. My husband, also an entrepreneur, strongly encouraged me to pursue it, highlighting my talent. A friend named Erica, also an entrepreneur, reminded me that if I truly loved what I did, there was no reason not to pursue it. While these conversations were motivating, it was a profound discussion with my grandmother that truly solidified my resolve. She spoke about faith, God’s blessings in my life, and the importance of being obedient to my calling. At that point, I felt compelled to get my affairs in order.

Since then, I’ve fully dedicated myself to Lavish And Luxe Events. I’ve been determined, focused, securing contracts, and participating in bridal expos and other industry events. I am incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. Sharing this brings tears to my eyes, as it reflects the hard work and dedication that have brought me to this point. I know this is just the beginning of my journey, and I am immensely grateful for where I am now.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road. I feel that in any business, there will always be changes, and it’s essential to stay on top of those changes and what’s trending. I feel like the biggest struggle i had was finding people that was wanting to work! I am grateful to have a family that loves and supports me and they stepped up big time,

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m April Friday from Lavish And Luxe Events. We specialize in planning baby showers and weddings, but we’re equipped to handle any event, from a deeply personal special occasion to an office meeting or team-building event. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support for all your event planning needs.

We are particularly known for our exceptional baby showers. I am incredibly proud of Lavish And Luxe’s growth and presence here in Atlanta. Our commitment to continuous learning and open-mindedness truly sets us apart. I actively seek and value advice and ideas from my team and family, whose support is invaluable to our collective success.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I would definitely say me being a mom! I’m blessed to be a mother my husband and I share 5 kids and I have 3 amazing bonus kids with a total of 8! In my business life I would say that I wanted to be in a great location and somewhere I felt was in the middle and I was lucky enough to find the perfect home for Lavish & Luxe Events in Roswell. Ga
