Conversations with Angela Cubin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Cubin.

Hi Angela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” That scripture became my anchor when everything fell apart. After over 15 years as an independent surgical assistant, the healthcare industry changed overnight. I went from earning six figures to barely surviving. I had just moved into my home and was on the verge of losing everything.
But God didn’t let go of me—and He sent a mentor to help me rise again. Once I found my footing, I asked, “God, what can I do to help others going through this too?” That’s when my real purpose began. I’ve always believed that when man fails you, God never will. And through faith, I began building something bigger than myself.
In April, I expanded my business. By October 1st, we had helped our colleagues bring in over one million dollars. That’s not just money—that’s hope, stability, and dignity restored.
None of this happened alone. My success is rooted in my team—my daughter-in-law, who has been my rock. Her wisdom and strength have matched my own. Two of my children have joined me, my son’s best friend, my sisters, my nephews. It’s become a family movement, driven by a shared mission: to give back where we once lacked.
Maya Angelou said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” That’s what I want to be remembered for. Not just for the things I built—but for the love I gave, the faith I kept, and how I made others feel seen, valued, and never alone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been smooth. I found that although we had lots of intelligent people working with us, they didn’t see the bigger picture. To help and give back. It was frustrating to say the least. I had to accept that the goal that I had in mind doesn’t necessarily correspond into another person’s goals.

We also went from working in a two room office in my basement into a five office suite in a matter of months. It took some adjustment.

In the past, it was only Jewel and I. Now, we have a team of 17. Learning how to manage people, time and resources was and is something that we continue to learn everyday.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a surgical assistant who fell into a billing company for providers in 7 states so far.

I specialize in billing for surgical assistants. I’m known (hopefully) for my kindness, tenacity and work ethic.

I’m most proud of my children. Has nothing to do with work. I’m proud that they are independent and don’t shy away from hard work. I hope they learned that from me.

I think one of the things that sets me apart is not to settle not give up. To push myself further than I thought possible.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in God. I believe that I had to walk through the fire so to speak to get to this place in time. I believe that He has guided my path my entire life. I was stubborn sometimes. Choosing not to listen. I listen closely now. We call that Faith.
