Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Coleman.
Hi Bryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Detroit but have lived in Atlanta for 22 years I truly can’t believe it’s been that long lol. But I have been raised in the church from the womb. My mother was an alto singing with Michael Fletcher, my grandmother is an alto/tenor (now) for her church choir and my great grandmother sang with Frank White and the Creshedos in Detroit. I never realized how much I was soaking in as a young man sitting as my family sang and pretending to direct in choir rehearsals. When I moved down to Atlanta I sang at Word of Faith for 8 years and then went to Dream Center and from there I became a member of Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling! That was my first taste being in a community choir and I was able to soak up a lot from him in a short time. After my stint with him I realized I had been trying to find a sound that hadn’t been produced. I wanted to create a place for my generation to come together and sing and worship together. A place where church hurt doesn’t exist but love and God’s grace persists. May of 2019 I stepped out on faith and asked some friends if they would join me and start a choir and we did. We had our first performance at B. Chase Williams & Shabachs “Choirs Rock” musical and we never looked back from that point, Even during the pandemic we started recording trying to find our footing and sound. 2024 we recorded our first album LIVE in Atlanta. We have released two singles “Deliver Me” ft. Octavia Latrice and “I Owe Him” ft Tyree Miller! We have another single dropping soon “The Lords Prayer” ft Annalisha Jacobs! I don’t have all the answers in leadership. I have made mistakes. But Zion I am beyond proud of you. You all have made me a better man! Thank you for your support and patience as we have navigated building something from scratch. Each of you are so vital and integral. We AINT done yet! By all means come sing with us. Grow with us! Build with us! Singers, writers, arrangers, lead singers, prayer warriors, atmosphere shifters! Let’s remind the world who runs the universe! God all day every day!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has been a journey!!! You realize in leadership that people come and go but sometimes the hurt from the loss remains. If I had every member who ever joined I would have a mega choir already lol. But I have also had to learn how to be a better leader. Learning to control rehearsals and manage personalities has been a learning journey with no manual and no learning curve.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
