Lashunda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey in healthcare over 20 years ago as a nurse, where I developed a deep understanding of patient care, attention to detail, and the importance of efficiency in medical processes. Throughout my nursing career, I witnessed firsthand how vital accurate and timely testing is, not only for patient outcomes but also for the organizations depending on those results.
One day, I went in for a routine drug test, and the process took more than four hours. Sitting there, I couldn’t help but think, there has to be a better way. That experience sparked something in me. I realized that if I was frustrated as a healthcare professional, others were too. That’s when the idea for my own laboratory and testing service was born, a place where clients could receive fast, reliable, and professional services without unnecessary delays.
From that vision, Divine Design Laboratory Services was created. My goal has always been to combine the compassion and precision of nursing with the efficiency and professionalism of modern laboratory operations. Today, I’m proud to provide a range of services, from drug and DNA testing to wellness screenings, designed to make testing convenient, accurate, and client-focused.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. Transitioning from being a nurse to running my own business came with a big learning curve. I had to learn the administrative, financial, and marketing sides of entrepreneurship while still keeping my focus on providing excellent service.
In the beginning, finding the right equipment, securing certifications, and building trust with clients took time. There were moments when I questioned whether I could balance it all , especially managing compliance requirements, vendor partnerships, and the day-to-day operations.
But I’ve learned that growth doesn’t happen in comfort. Every delay, every obstacle, and every “no” motivated me to build something better. Those early struggles are what shaped Divine Design Laboratory Services into what it is today, a trusted, efficient, and compassionate testing service that reflects both my nursing background and my commitment to helping others.

Divine Design Laboratory Services is a professional testing and wellness company dedicated to providing fast, reliable, and compassionate care. We specialize in DOT and non-DOT drug testing, pre-employment screenings, DNA testing, fingerprinting, and bloodwork, along with a growing line of health and wellness services such as vitamin injections, weight-loss support, and body-contouring treatments.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe that luck plays a part, but preparation and faith play a bigger one. There have been moments where things didn’t go as planned, delays in licensing, equipment issues, or unexpected challenges that tested my patience, and at the time, it felt like bad luck. But looking back, those moments taught me resilience and made me sharpen my systems, processes, and vision.
On the flip side, I’ve had moments of good luck too. Meeting the right people at the right time, doors opening when I least expected it, and opportunities that aligned perfectly with my goals. But I’ve learned that luck usually meets you halfway when you’re consistent, determined, and willing to put in the work.
In my life and in Divine Design Laboratory Services, I see “luck” as God’s way of reminding me that even when the road isn’t smooth, it’s still part of the design. Every setback positioned me for a comeback, and that’s what has kept me going and growing.
