Rising Stars: Meet Dezerea Ledet-Kanu of Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dezerea Ledet-Kanu.

Hi Dezerea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Dezerea Ledet-Kanu, a fitness coach who specializes in strength and conditioning training and postpartum recovery.

I’ve always been an athlete — I played sports all through college — but after graduating, fitness took on a whole new meaning for me. It wasn’t until I went through a season of depression that I started taking my health and fitness more seriously. The gym became my safe space — a place where I could release, rebuild, and reconnect with myself.

As I started training friends, I realized the calling God placed on my life was bigger than just fitness — it was about helping others fight their silent battles and find healing through movement.

Then came motherhood. After becoming a mom and facing postpartum challenges, I found myself in a body I didn’t recognize. But through that pain, purpose was birthed. I fell in love with the journey — learning to love the new, more confident version of me

Now, three years later, I’m blessed to help other women do the same — to embrace their journey, restore their confidence, and fall in love with the process of becoming their best selves

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. The journey to get here has tested me in every way possible. I never planned on becoming a coach — I just knew I had a passion for helping people step into their best selves.

Balancing it all wasn’t easy. I was a single mom, a college student, and building my career as a coach all at once. There were days I felt completely stretched thin, but quitting was never an option.

I had to learn how to pour into others without losing myself in the process. And honestly, that’s where my strength was built. Every setback, every silent battle — it all taught me resilience and faith.

By God’s grace, I’m still standing — not just to tell my story, but to remind others that even when life feels heavy, nothing is too hard for God and the version of you on the other side is worth

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Honestly, what I do goes way beyond fitness. I’m a strength and conditioning coach who focuses on women’s fitness and postpartum recovery — but really, my mission is about helping women find themselves again.

I know what it’s like to not recognize the person in the mirror, to feel like you’re giving everything to everyone else and have nothing left for you. That’s why I create a space where women can rebuild — not just their bodies, but their confidence, their faith, and their peace of mind.

What I’m most proud of is the transformation that happens on the inside. I’ve seen women come in broken, tired, and unsure — and leave standing taller, smiling again, believing in themselves. That’s the kind of change that lasts.

What sets me apart is that I truly understand. I’ve been in those same shoes — tired, overwhelmed, fighting silent battles. I don’t just coach from theory; I coach from experience. And I want women to know that a life without constant stress, depression, or dependence on things that numb you is possible.

For me, this isn’t just about fitness — it’s about faith, freedom, and helping women realize that their strength was never lost… it just needed to be rebuilt.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Yes! I’m also the founder of the Faith and Fitness Conference, which I launched in 2024. It’s an annual women’s empowerment event that brings faith, fitness, and community together under one roof.

The conference was created to give women a space to reconnect with their purpose, build confidence, and support one another — all while highlighting and uplifting small businesses in the community. My goal is to help women walk boldly in who God has called them to be, embracing both their faith journey and their fitness journey.

It’s more than a conference — it’s a movement. A reminder that through faith and consistency, transformation in every area of your life is possible
