Hi Brian L., please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started photography while working in corporate America. What began as a hobby quickly became a passion. Picking up a camera opened the door to endless possibilities — new places to explore, incredible people to meet, and stories to tell through my lens.
For over 25 years, photography has allowed me to give my clients visual interpretations of themselves that go beyond a simple picture — they’re reflections of personality, confidence, and authenticity.
When I first started, I told myself I wanted to do something I could love for the rest of my life. I believe that when you do what you love — even if you’d do it for free — you’ll always find joy and fulfillment in it. That mindset has helped me grow from a hobbyist into a successful businessman and artist.
I take great pride in knowing that every client who steps in front of my camera will walk away with a satisfying and meaningful experience. Today, I continue to do what I love, and I look forward to creating something new every single day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The best way to create a smooth road in life is to work hard and stay consistent. When I first started, I was laid off from my corporate job and took on temporary and warehouse work just to keep going.
Those experiences taught me the value of persistence and the importance of chasing something that truly fulfills you. My drive came from those uncomfortable jobs — they reminded me every day of what I didn’t want to do, and pushed me toward what I love to do: photography.
What began as a survival hustle turned into a lifelong passion and career. Every time I pick up my camera now, I’m reminded that dedication, consistency, and faith can turn any rough road into something beautifully smooth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a portrait photographer who specializes in headshots, family portraits, branding, and senior portraits.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to build my business primarily through repeat and referral clients — something I take great pride in. It means a lot to know that my clients not only love their images but trust me enough to return and recommend me to others.
What truly sets me apart is how I treat my clients. I approach every session as if I’m photographing a friend or family member. That personal connection helps people relax, be themselves, and enjoy the process — which always shows in the final images.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, there are too many sources of inspiration to list. I find inspiration in something new every day — whether it’s a photograph, a piece of music, a powerful sermon, a unique culture, or simply a place that moves me.
Creativity is everywhere if you’re open to it. I try to keep my eyes and heart open so that everything I experience can influence the way I see and capture people through my lens.
