Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Berry.
Hi Robert, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story starts when I was 13 years old. I was diagnose with osteosarcoma. A type of cancer that is very rare in children and often has a fatality rate of 70%, because of our growing bodies, it spreads extremely fast. I fought my cancer for over 10 months, and was amputated just above the knee. It took me some time to re-learn how to walk, but once I got the hang of it, I quickly wanted to be involved in as much sports as I could. Which is funny, because before I lost my leg, the ONLY physical activity I did was Karate. I became an all around athlete afterwards, participating and going to state in wheelchair basketball, playing wheelchair football and handball, becoming a national rock climber for Catalyst Sports, and won state 2 times in 3 different divisions for wheelchair track; later accomplishing 14 gold medals for wheelchair track at a national level. It wasn’t until 2019 I became intrigued with Bodybuilding. Getting up on a stage and posing for people just seemed silly, until I was approached by a man in the gym on day telling how many people I could inspire by stepping on stage, in shape and showing my leg doesn’t hinder me from anything, So I did, and it changed my life. Still competing, I have done 5 bodybuilding shows and have a goal of being the 1st ever amputee to win the Olympia. It has pushed me to now start my own clothing brand Without Limit, so others can be apart of a community that displays whatever you go through, it does not have a deciding factor on your success. In fact it is your trials and struggles that make you, and are here to help push you into the greatness you were always meant to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The most struggles I have faced are honestly day to day pain. In a nut shell, a lot of the activity that I do hurts. At some points, the rubbing from my prosthetic keeps me from being able to walk some days.
Obstacles on starting my business was the “where do I begin”. So I sat down and came up with a check list of what I needed to do first in order to get started, then just did it. I stopped putting it off and just took a leap of faith. The challenge then became how do I get recognition, so a lot of my investment into my business was free to others, to get my name out to the community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is a belief of limitations existing only in the mind — and they’re meant to be shattered. No matter where you are in life, you have the power to rise, to succeed, and to build a legacy that inspires generations. My business is clothing, training, supplements, and all around health orientated.
I personal train, I coach online in cases where people can’t reach me in person. I specialize in strength training, body re-composition, weight loss, muscle gain, bodybuilding prep. I am known for being the guy that doesn’t stop. I will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to be able to be successful in what I am doing.
What sets me apart is I am a bodybuilder…with 1 leg. I came from 72lbs in the hospital at 13 years old to 200lbs at 27. If ANYONE can understand what people go through…its me, and my ability to relate to everyone in order TO HELP them be their best self.
I am most proud of the name itself. It has so many meanings on without limit. The versatility of it is limitless, A constant reminder that better is coming, just do not give up.
I want readers to know that what they buy into isn’t just a product, its a step into the direction they have been putting on hold for far too long. We care DEEPLY for our customers and clients, in ways that are unmatched with other companies. My services are custom, they are fair and affordable, and they are customized.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is that it is okay to ask for help. Not everything you do needs to be done alone. Sometimes its trying to do things alone is the reason you talk yourself out of that great idea. As well as being patient. Nothing is done over night, so being patient with yourself and not giving up.
