Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Williams.
Rachelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started at one Thursday family dinner. My family use to meet and eat dinner together every Thursday (this was when everyone was off work at the same time). During these gatherings, everyone was expected to bring their own dish, some are acceptable, but of course most were worth repeating. As we continued this family tradition, I started to love and enjoy cooking even more for the family. One evening, my mother-in-law’s close friend showed me how to bake a simple cake. I was excited and very honored that she would take the time to show me how to start baking cakes. I never could have imagined that I would have been able to do something so simple and turn it into something so amazing. That day, I made a commitment to myself and started baking cakes for my family for every possible event. This led to baking becoming my passion as I saw the expressions on my customer’s faces and their thoughtful comments.
Little did I know I began to gain fans starting with my family. Their support pushed and encouraged me to start a small business. It all begun with a simple homebased ordering for things like Lumpia (eggroll), Pancit (rice noodles), rice cake, breads, etc. This led to the small catering and most recently, the pop-up at Market Days on Broadway which is in downtown Columbus. Despite the challenges that comes with working a full-time accounting job, being a mother of three children, doubts, and breaking points, sleepless nights, comes our faith—Bella’s CAKEtering, LLC (named after my daughter and whose face is our logo).
Moreover, with the outpouring support from my amazing husband, kids, family, friends and the community my dream has now become an exciting reality… and I am ready!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth as we have some challenges when we first started such as finding the right location for our business that fit our needs the best.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My speciality is cooking authentic Filipino cuisine, breads, and desserts. I also love to bake and enjoy making custom cakes for any occasion. We are known for being able to provide a taste of the Philippines that my customers grew up with and cherished back home. Nothing makes me more happier than to see a satisfied customer who loves the food that I have prepared. I always go above and beyond to make my customers happy and will try to prepare a dish for them that makes them remember our home in the Philippines.
