Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Harrison.
Hi Lynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a teacher at heart. My background is in Early Childhood Education, and I’ve always loved all forms of art and creating! The creative time in the classroom was always my favorite. After becoming a stay-at-home mom, I started teaching homeschool art classes, while living in Evans, GA, and absolutely fell in love with it.
When my family moved back home, I began running the art program at a local special needs school (a role I’m now in my fourth year of and one that continues to mean so much to me). Last year, after hosting a few summer art camps and seeing how much interest and need there was for homeschool and after-school art opportunities in our area, I decided to take a leap and open my own studio.
Since then, Confetti & Canvases Art Studio has grown into a creative space for all ages from little artists to adults, and we offer classes, camps, and all kinds of fun, hands on experiences. It’s been amazing to watch our community embrace creativity and make art a joyful part of their lives!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been the smoothest road, but it has not been the roughest either. Learning to run a business has been a whole new experience for my teaching mindset. There’s definitely a big learning curve, but it’s all been worth it. I’ve learned so much along the way (still learning honestly), and I’m surrounded by the most supportive friends and family who have encouraged me every step of the journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Confetti & Canvases Art Studio?
Confetti & Canvases Art Studio is a creative space for artists of all ages from toddlers in our Tiny Picassos classes to adults attending our sip & paints, door hanger nights, textile classes, and more. We offer homeschool and after-school programs, summer camps, birthday celebrations (for all ages!), and messy fun in our splatter room, tie dye bar, and slime station. We have an Art Bar filled with ceramics, pre drawn canvases, and more ready for anyone to pop in and create any time.
We specialize in making creativity accessible, playful, and joyful for everyone, helping participants build confidence, express themselves, and try new mediums in a supportive setting.
What sets us apart is our focus on community, inclusivity, and collaboration. We partner with local small businesses for events like music and art classes/camps, coffee & canvases (one of our most popular bimonthly events), and more! We also offer team building activities for teen groups and adults/organizations and support fundraising efforts.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my grandmother and the hours we spent together in her sewing room and at her dining room table. She was an amazing seamstress and encouraged every form of creativity and exploration. I loved watching her work and spending hours by her side, making, experimenting, and learning to create with my own hands. Those moments sparked my lifelong love of creativity and the joy of bringing ideas to life. I carry this love with me every day in my studio.
