Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Limon.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before I worked full-time as a photographer, I spent 8 years working in healthcare. I’ve always been drawn to connection; to the quiet, meaningful moments that tell a story. While working for Emory Healthcare, I began photographing new staff and creating a documentary-style photo series that celebrated our team.
That small project changed everything. The CEO of Emory happened to see my work and approached me about photographing newborns for the Labor and Delivery unit. Within a few months, I took a leap of faith and resigned from my hospital position to pursue photography full-time.
More than 12 years later, I’ve had the honor of photographing thousands of newborns, births, families, and professionals. What began as a single opportunity within Emory has grown into a luxury photography brand serving clients from all over the world.
Today, my work is rooted in storytelling, emotion, and connection. I believe every image should feel effortless yet intentional, capturing not just how a moment looks, but how it feels. My goal is for every client to walk away with timeless, artful imagery that reflects their story with authenticity and beauty.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I had to learn quickly that being a talented artist and being the CEO of a business are two very different things. In the early years, I had to understand the true costs of doing business, how to price for sustainability, and how to create a career that supported both my passion and my livelihood.
Then came COVID—a time that challenged every business owner. I had to close my studio for a few months and reinvent the way I served my clients. It forced me to get creative, adapt, and refine my business model to be more intentional and resilient.
Every challenge has shaped the photographer and businesswoman I am today. Those experiences taught me the importance of consistency, client experience, and creating a brand rooted in trust and refinement.
We’ve been impressed with Jessica Limon Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is centered around creating timeless, emotionally rich imagery that captures authentic connection. I specialize in newborn, maternity, family, headshots, and branding photography; blending artistry with intention to craft images that feel effortless yet deeply personal.
I’m most known for the experience I provide. From the first consultation to the delivery of handcrafted art, every detail is thoughtfully designed to be elevated and seamless. I guide my clients every step of the way, from location, wardrobe planning, to designing beautiful heirloom art for their home.
What sets my brand apart is the balance of artistry and care. I approach every session with the heart of a storyteller and the eye of a creative director; capturing genuine emotion with a refined, editorial touch.
Above all, I’m proud that my clients return year after year, allowing me to document their stories, relationships, and legacies through timeless, heirloom imagery and art.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest advice is to connect with others whose work you admire. Get out from behind the computer and be present; attend conferences, workshops, and networking events. Align your brand with others who share your values and aesthetic, and surround yourself with creatives and professionals who inspire and challenge you to grow.
Anytime there was a creative whose work I admired, I made it a point to learn from them. I signed up for their workshops, studied their process, and wasn’t afraid to reach out or ask questions. If they were accessible, I found a way to connect. Those experiences were invaluable.
Always be willing to invest in your business and in yourself. Step outside your comfort zone, stay curious, and remain open to learning. The industry is always evolving, and the most successful entrepreneurs I know are the ones who never stop growing.
