Today we’d like to introduce you to Zyoness Nicole.
Hi Zyoness, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my modeling at 9 years old. Prior to the tragic murder of my brother, I made a vow to him that I was going to return to modeling. When he died, it was my way of turning my pain into passion. Modeling gave me life again when I was lost and nothing made sense to me. After prioritizing my focus and full attention into modeling my career expanded to the heights of what it is today. I am extremely honored to have been named one of the top 10 plus models in Atlanta. I’ve had the esteemed pleasure to work with some of the top designers and celebrities in this industry. I have graced the cover of books, magazines, and billboards. I used my modeling as a platform; a platform that I am able to reach the masses, create my own lane, and help others do the same. Being a radio personality on 97.9FM, the Chubb Rock Weekend Warriors segment, gives me an opportunity to use my voice and have it heard by millions. I am able to shed light on topics of great interest, that need to be discussed in our communities. Whether you agree with me or not, a discussion is being had and my purpose fulfilled.
Zyoness Nicole is more than just a model, she is an Entrepreneur – owning three small companies. If she is not modeling, Zyoness Nicole is hosting events and branding other businesses. She also manages to serve as a Community Activist, Motivational Speaker, and Mentor. As her career continues to rise, she takes the time to empower women and mentor the youth. Being a philanthropist, Zyoness Nicole also works with several different nonprofit organizations that focus on giving back to the community. In 2011, she lost her brother to gun violence. After his death, she developed a passion to start a continuous movement against gun violence.
Zyoness wants to be known as a model that empowers other women to embrace their body and love themselves. She represents confidence, class, etiquette, self-assurance, and self-love – all while being plus size and fashionable.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road – nothing in this world is easy! Just simply being a woman in the entertainment industry is challenging. There is a thin line between being a boss and assertive and being called the “B word “. You have to find the balance. for example, when I first started modeling professionally, I was told that my imagine was not going to make it as a professional model because I looked to ethnic – with my locs and tattoos. I used that negativity to push me and I did not let it stop me. I told myself that somebody is going to open a door or even a window however, I am coming to conquer my goals one way or the other – make room! I perfected my craft, so that my talent will be undeniable. Over the course of years, standard plus models were becoming more accepted every day!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am known to many in the industry as Zyoness Nicole: the plus size model and radio personality. However, when away from the runway and microphone, I am a Corporate Accountant with an- MSA – Masters in Accounting. After 15 plus years in Corporate America, I took a leap of faith and launched my Accounting Firm-Visionz Accounting Firm fifteen years ago. The Firm has provided several career and mentorship opportunities within our community. I am committed to increasing the knowledge and skills of all regarding the world of Finance. It’s exciting to witness the number of entrepreneurs that have entered the marketplace. Subsequently, I have realized, there are many small business owners that have created businesses from a hobby or interest, however, they do not understand the dynamics of running a successful business. Thus, it has been my mission to educate and elevate other business owners.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One of my favorite books is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki. The book is about financial literacy and building wealth by making money work for you, rather than simply working for money
