Rising Stars: Meet Jacqueline Watts of Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Watts.

Hi Jacqueline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hairstyling has always been a way for me to express myself. I discovered my skill at the age of ten by learning to braid my own hair. Once in high school I did very well making money doing hair for others. Styling hair remained a side hussle even when I became a mother and worked a 9-5. I was half stepping in my calling and didn’t know it. I had never thought about becoming a professional hairstylist until one day I grew tired of working so hard for so little with my 9-5 and not having more time with my kids. I thought to myself how can I make my life easier and what comes natural to me. I decided to go to beauty college. I attended Beauty Empire in Kennesaw, Georgia. I soon quit my 9-5, built my professional experience at Adells Natural Hair Salon for 3 years, and then started my own company Crowned By MsJacky!

I am a professional hairstylist with a niche for locs, braids, and natural hair. I love helping people feel confident about their look! My clients are the best! Many of them have been rocking with me for over 7 years now. I appreciate everyone!

My passion has been to help those new to the industry that are in need of proper guidance to utilize and master their skills and implement their experience into creating their own business.

Having that guidance is something that would have helped me earlier on.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Obstacles and challenges are expected in life. In my journey I just roll with he punches and do what is required of me. At the end of the day it’s not going to be easy but it’s worth it to keep going. A close relationship with God has always carried me through everything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I style and care for locs and natural hair but I also specialize in extensions. I’m what you would call, Jack of All Trades. My clients really love that I’m versatile, they can always switch up their look and not have to worry about different people in their hair. I’m most known for doing great work! I believe that balancing speed and attention to detail is critical to providing excellent service.
I’m most proud of my first magazine feature with Black Hair Magazine 2019, it was an amazing experience! I believe my creativity and passion is what sets me apart from others.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is sharing what I’ve learned through my experience and seeing my story help someone else. It matters because when people can relate and see what’s possible, it inspires them. Sometimes people just need to be inspired.
