Today we’d like to introduce you to Ranisha Johnson.
Hi Ranisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Event planning has always been a passion of mine; I’m that friend and family member who everyone calls when it’s time to celebrate something special. The Virgo in me thrives on details and organization, so bringing a vision to life down to the tiniest touches has always come naturally.
Starting my own business had been a goal for a while, but it took some time to actually take that leap. People often see the beautiful, finished events, but they don’t always realize the time, energy, and emotional commitment that goes into pulling it all together. As someone who also manages anxiety, I had to be sure that this was truly something I wanted to pour myself into. Once I finally said, “yes, I’m doing this,” everything began to fall into place, and that’s how Magical Affairs ATL was born.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Right now, my biggest challenge has been visibility, truly being seen and putting myself out there to be seen. I’m learning that consistency and showing up matter just as much as the work itself, but it can be tough. Doing the work, putting your heart into your craft, and getting little to no reaction at times can be disheartening.
I’ve realized that people don’t just want to see the finished product, they want to see you in action, the behind-the-scenes moments, the process, and the person behind the brand. That’s an area where I’ve felt I fall short, especially because I deal with anxiety. But I’m actively pushing myself to overcome that fear and show up for my business, because I know it deserves to be great. Each step I take outside my comfort zone helps me grow, both personally and professionally.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Magical Affairs ATL is all about creating unforgettable experiences, events that feel as good as they look. I specialize in event planning, event styling, balloon décor, and themed setups that are designed with detail and delivered with magic. From elegant picnics and baby showers to birthday parties, brunches, and full event transformations, I love bringing my clients’ visions to life in a way that feels personal and memorable.
What sets Magical Affairs ATL apart is the heart and intention that goes into every detail. I don’t just focus on décor, I focus on creating an atmosphere. I want my clients and their guests to walk into a space and feel the joy, the love, and the care behind every design choice. The Virgo in me loves perfecting the details, but I also put just as much energy into making the process stress-free and enjoyable.
I’m most proud of the growth and evolution of my brand, from starting out with kids’ tent parties to now offering full event styling and design services. Every event I create is a reflection of my creativity, my passion, and my belief that magic lives in the details.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that when they book with Magical Affairs ATL, they’re not just hiring a planner or decorator, they’re getting someone who truly cares about their event experience and who will pour her heart into making it unforgettable.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve learned that taking risks is often the only way to truly grow. For a long time, I played it safe, I had the passion for event planning, but I was afraid to take that leap and really put myself out there. Starting Magical Affairs ATL was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. It meant stepping out of my comfort zone, trusting my creativity, and opening myself up to the possibility of both success and failure.
As someone who deals with anxiety, even simple things like promoting myself or showing my work online felt like risks. But I realized that growth doesn’t happen in comfort. Every time I choose to show up for my business, whether it’s posting content, networking, or trying something new creatively, I’m taking a small risk. And those small risks have added up to some of my biggest wins.
To me, risk-taking isn’t about being fearless; it’s about doing it anyway, even when you’re scared. Because that’s where the magic happens, right outside your comfort zone.
