Today we’d like to introduce you to Ase Omavuaye Otite.
Hi Ase Omavuaye, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As an artist and children’s book author, I have always been drawn to creativity in all its forms—through photography, words, and visual art. Writing children’s stories lets me blend imagination with purpose, showing young readers that their ideas have no limits and that the sky truly is the limit. I began capturing art through drawing and painting, and later through my camera lens, but over time I realized I wanted to create worlds through words—stories that inspire children to dream big, stay curious, and see the beauty in everything around them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a creative is very rewarding, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right balance between my creative side and the business side of things. As an artist and author, I naturally focus on storytelling, imagination, and creating meaningful work—but there is also the practical side of managing projects, marketing, and staying organized. Learning how to treat my creativity like a business, while still protecting the joy and freedom that fuel it has been an ongoing journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a children’s book author and artist who published my first children’s book in 2019, which went on to win three awards. That experience was incredibly meaningful because it brought my imagination to life and showed the power of storytelling to inspire young minds. I am most proud of my ability to take creative ideas and transform them into stories that encourage children to dream boldly and see the beauty in the world around them. What sets me apart is that I see art everywhere—whether through words, visuals, or everyday moments—and I use that perspective to create stories that spark imagination and curiosity.
I am especially excited to be releasing my second children’s book later this year, in 2025, and I can’t wait to connect with new young readers and continue inspiring their limitless imaginations.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe the creative industry is entering an exciting era. Over the next 5–10 years, I see the world continuing to embrace and celebrate creatives in a way that truly values our craft. There is a growing appreciation for originality, storytelling, and authentic voices—especially in spaces like children’s literature, where imagination and representation matter more than ever. With technology and digital platforms giving artists more freedom to share their work, I think creativity will no longer be seen as a side passion but as a respected and vital part of culture and education.
