Rising Stars: Meet Ansley Lazzaro of Kennesaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ansley Lazzaro.

Hi Ansley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been in the beauty industry for 10 years! I started my career as a hairstylist doing all things color, haircuts, hair extensions, and weddings. Shortly after I started full time in the salon, I became highly allergic to hair color that left my hands with chemical burns and the fumes made me ill. I was so upset but I knew luckily the beauty industry had much more to offer.
I took my very first eyelash extension course in 2017 and quickly fell in love with lashing and decided it was time for me to leave the salon and go out on my own. In 2018 I opened up my own suite, Eye Catcher Beauty Bar. Lash extensions became popular very quickly and I worked endlessly to perfect my craft and to grow my lashing clientele. It is truly something I love doing and am so blessed to do it in a cozy space for my clients to come to to relax, unwind and leave with beautiful lashes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course there were some bumps along the way, but I was able to learn and grow my business from it all!
It was difficult transitioning out of being a full time hairstylist into a new lash artist.

Learning a new craft, building a clientele, learning the in’s and out’s of running a small business all while working every day to get better. I attended many networking events and relied on social media to get the word out and to put my work on display.

It was a stressful start but I am so glad I stuck with it. All of the hustle paid off and I grew the most amazing clientele that makes it all worth it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create customized eyelash extension sets that are completely unique and tailored to each client. I map out each guest prior to their service to determine what will best suit their eye shape, eye lids, lifestyle and preferences. I offer a wide range of different color lash extensions from a soft brown ,to a deep burgundy, to color match to your hair color or what will compliment your eye color.

I’m known for creating lash extensions that look natural and wispy but will make your eyes pop! I also do eyebrow lamination, tinting and waxing. Another service that makes the everyday routine a little bit easier.

When a guest comes in I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. I keep my space dim with soft music playing and provide blankets for ultimate comfort. Whether they want to take a nap, listen to an audiobook or chat while I’m lashing, this is your time to relax.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
In the lash world majority of us work solo, so I love when I get to meet other lash artists! I attended The Lash Conference last year in Anaheim, California and it was an unforgettable experience. While I was taking many continuing education classes, I was also getting to meet so many other lash artists from all over the world. I think it is so important to get to know other people in your community to bounce ideas off of and who can relate to your industry.

Social Media is an amazing tool to network and to show off your work. You can truly learn a lot from others when it comes to branding and making content which has helped me a lot in my business.

Continuing education is a non negotiable for me. Staying on top of trends, learning new techniques, and trying out new products is important to me to provide the best for my clients! You can never learn too much and that will always set you apart from others.
