Exploring Life & Business with Loren Carver of Barbelle Pelvic Rehab LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Carver.

Hi Loren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a physical therapist treating orthopedic patients (necks, backs, and hips) when I noticed women who were experiencing lower back pain and hip pain also were marking pelvic floor symptoms on their intake form. I decided to take a pelvic floor course and fell in love with helping women with their most intimate issues completely transforming their quality of life. From there I started to see primarily pelvic floor patients and noticed a gap in how they were undertrained and knew that they could receive more more meaningful and longterm results with holistic and full body care for their pelvic floor complaints. I decided to start my own practice so I could make that a reality and build a way to care for women in the way, I myself would want to be cared for. I started treating in patient’s home and as I quickly became more busy – our clinic grew. We are now a multi clinical practice in Canton GA- Barbelle Pelvic Rehab. We have been able to serve more than 1000 people locally.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I started I was hoping to also have the knowledge to. help myself through my own pregnancy and postpartum journey as a weight lifter. A few months after I started my husband and I found out we had complete infertility. I almost quit right after I started not knowing if I could continue to serve this population knowing I would not experience pregnancy. But I knew the cause was greater than the pain I felt. This year I have a frozen embryo transfer planned with embryos that we have adopted from a family – hoping my dream of helping myself can now come full circle as we hope to become pregnant.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That showing up for yourself is never wasted time. Taking care of yourself is the very thing that allows you to care for others. This includes myself and also my patients who show up as mothers and caregivers. We tend to put ourselves last and pour from a diffcult place. When we allow ourselves to thrive those around us have a better chance of thriving too.
