Hi Gabriella , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! My name is Gabriella, but everyone calls me Gabi. I was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but I grew up in Brazil, where I graduated with a degree in Business.

In 2018, I decided to move back to the U.S. looking for new opportunities and a fresh start.
That’s when I discovered Athens, Georgia.. I completely fell in love with the city and it truly became my second home.
It’s where I studied Esthetics and began working in the Brazilian waxing industry.

I’ve been in this field for about seven years now and during that time, I even worked as a manager for a large company here.

After gaining a lot of experience and growing professionally, I decided it was time to make my dream come true and open my own studio.

That’s how Beleza Wax by Gabi was born, a small, cozy space that truly reflects my personality.
The name Beleza means “beauty” in Portuguese, my first language and it perfectly represents what I wanted to create: a space that combines authenticity, comfort and care.

My goal has always been to make my clients feel confident, relaxed and comfortable while offering fast, effective, and authentic Brazilian waxing techniques.

Today I’m 32years old, still living in Athens, a city I absolutely love and I’m so grateful for every client who trusts me.
Beleza Wax by Gabi is not just my studio, it’s a dream that came to life and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. First, I studied English in Brazil and anyone who’s ever learned a second language knows how difficult it is when you study it without truly immersing yourself in the culture.
When you move to another country, it’s a completely different story.
Understanding the language, the culture, the people it all takes time.

It’s also not easy to make friends as an adult, so you need to learn how people live, think and communicate.
Visiting a country is one thing, but living there is completely different.

Although I was born in the US, I left when I was about a year old so my background is 100% Brazilian.
So, yes, it was a difficult period of adjustment, but I’ve always been focused and determined.
When I moved here, I knew I wanted to build my life here, no matter how difficult it was.

Of course, I’ve had incredible people supporting me, like former coworkers, friends, my boyfriend, who’s been an important part of my journey here and my family, even from afar.

But honestly, even if you were born and raised here, starting your own business is never easy.
You need humility to keep learning, determination to be consistent and focus to keep going, because it won’t always be perfect or glamorous.
You need to make a plan, stick to it and most importantly, take action.

It sounds cliché, but success truly comes from showing up every day and giving your best, even on the hard days.
There will be discouraging moments, but what really matters is having the courage to put yourself out there, to keep going and not being afraid to ask for help when you need it.
It’s important to have the humility to ask for help when you need it. Sometimes we try to carry everything alone, but we can’t always do it alone.
Being open to learning, growing and asking for help is essential, because no matter how good you are at what you do, there’s always something new to learn.

So, yes, it’s been a long road, but I’m grateful for every challenge, because that’s what made me who I am today.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Athens is that it’s such a lively college town. We have UGA here, and college football is a big deal, it brings so much energy and diversity to the city.
There are always young people around, different cultures.
I love that the city always feels alive because of the students, there’s always something going on.

What I like least, though, is that sometimes I wish there were more things to do for people who aren’t in college anymore.
Athens has a lot of activities for students, but when you’re past that stage of life, the options for leisure and entertainment can feel a bit limited.
