Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Wright.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Rochester, NY into a musical family. My parents pastored the one of the largesd Black Pentecostal Churches in the area, so as a “PK” I was able to gain my early learning of leadership and music right at our family church, New Progressive Cathedral COGIC.
I began my professional music career with a group called Jesse Williams & Destiny which was signed to Malaco Records, we released one album as well as a project with Dorothy Norwood.
In 1997 I relocated to Chicago, Il and joined up with Grammy Nominated & Stellar Award Winning group – Ricky Dillard & New G. It is with Ricky that I recorded the number one hit song “Take Me Back”, this is where my solo career really began to take off.
In 2005 I began my own gospel choir by the name of Jason Wright & The Master’s Touch, which had recorded and released two Billboard Charting Albums (Victorious Believer & The Declaration Project) as well as several singles such as the Hit song “Sinner Man” with Lillian Lloyd and the Christmas Hit “Glory to God (A Churchy Christmas)”.
In 2019 I fully relocated to Atlanta, Ga and began my musical journey in the south. I started a chapter of my already successful choir, and became the Minister of Music at the Historical, Cathedral of Faith COGIC. In 2024 I began the Annual MLK Weekend Concert that features local and national gospel groups each year to standing room only crowds. The concert is a vehicle that the ministry uses to be a blessing to those less fortunate just as Dr. King’s message taught us.
Currently I am serving in ministry at Life Church Atlanta (with Bishop Terence Merritt) as well as working on a new project scheduled to be released first quarter of 2026.
All of my music is available digitally wherever music is sold.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been smooth always, as an independent artist everything is on me, all monies for projects come from myself and my singers donations. So as you can imagine trying to live my life as well as handle my music production business has been much of a challenge
Another struggle is the ever changing over saturated music industry. The need to stay relevant and creative is a great challenge. But, with the help of God we are able to continue to recreate ourselves and keep doing what God has called us to do
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer, songwriter, choral director, minister, and the CEO of Jason Wright Productions.
Specializing in Gospel Music. Most proud of my music with Jason Wright & The Masters Touch/Jason Wright Productions.
I think what sets me a part from others is my ability to have clear vision after hearing from God and being able execute it every time He gives it to me to do and do it with ease and in a rather quick time.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family, friends, and my music make me happy. Because, I realize that if it was not for those things (and God) I would not have been able to make it this far.
