Today we’d like to introduce you to April Jones.
Hi April, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began with my passion for helping people see the best in themselves — whether that’s through learning or through beauty. I started my career in education over 20 years ago, working with students who have a wide range of abilities and disabilities. Teaching in special education has shaped not only my patience and creativity but also my ability to adapt, connect, and bring out potential in others.
Alongside that, I’ve always had a creative side and a deep love for beauty and self-expression, which led me to create my business, Divine Enhancement nearly 15 years ago. What started as a side passion for makeup artistry evolved into a platform where I empower women to feel confident, polished, and radiant — inside and out. Over time, I’ve learned how to merge both worlds: education and beauty. Whether I’m in the classroom or behind the brush, my goal is to uplift, teach, and transform.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me into the artist and entrepreneur I am today. When I first started as a makeup artist, I didn’t have the resources, connections, or visibility that many people assume you need to succeed. I had to learn how to build my brand from the ground up — balancing my full-time teaching career with growing Divine Enhancement on evenings and weekends.
There were seasons when clients were scarce, or when I questioned whether I could stand out in an oversaturated beauty industry. I’ve dealt with self-doubt, inconsistent bookings, and learning the business side of things — marketing, pricing, branding — mostly through trial and error. But I made a decision early on that I wouldn’t quit.
Instead, I invested in education, built genuine relationships, and learned how to translate my passion into a purpose-driven brand. I also had to learn to value my work — to understand that artistry is not just about applying makeup, it’s about transformation, confidence, and connection.
Now, when I look back, I realize those tough moments built my grit and my voice as an artist. They taught me that success isn’t just about being seen — it’s about staying consistent, evolving, and walking in your divine lane no matter what obstacles show up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder and lead artist of Divine Enhancement, a beauty brand dedicated to helping women look and feel like the best version of themselves. As a professional makeup artist and beauty educator, I specialize in what I call my signature natural glam — a timeless, polished look that enhances a woman’s natural features rather than covering them up. My goal is for every client to leave my chair still feeling like themselves — just more confident, radiant, and refined.
What really sets me apart is my approach: I don’t just apply makeup, I educate and empower. Whether I’m doing a bridal glam, teaching a class, or creating content, I focus on showing women how attainable beauty really is. My work is rooted in authenticity, affordability, and enhancement — not merely surface transformation.
For me, Divine Enhancement isn’t just a name — it’s a philosophy (and my ministry). It’s about embracing what’s already there and using beauty as a tool to reveal, not replace, your divine glow.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’m so grateful because I definitely didn’t get here on my own. First and foremost, I have to give credit to my clients — especially those who have been loyal to me over the years. They’ve stuck with me through everything: slow seasons, price increases, location changes, and even the times when I was still finding my rhythm as an artist. Their trust and support have truly been the foundation of Divine Enhancement.
My family has also been a huge part of my journey. My mom, who doesn’t even wear makeup, has always been my biggest cheerleader — reminding me to stay grounded and believe in my gift even when things got hard. My sister, who’s also a beauty professional, has been both an inspiration and a sounding board. We push and encourage each other creatively and professionally. And my niece, who looks up to me, motivates me to keep evolving so she can see what it looks like to pursue your purpose fearlessly.
Beyond them, I’ve been blessed with friends, fellow artists, and clients who became family — people who’ve promoted my work, shared my posts, modeled for me, or simply spoken life into me when I needed it. Each one played a part in shaping the artist, businesswoman, and woman of faith I am today.
