Check Out Faustina Brooks’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faustina Brooks.

Hi Faustina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Liberia and immigrated to the United States in 1986, settling in Atlanta, where I have lived ever since. I was in my second year of college at the University of Liberia, majoring in Political Science and minor in French with plans to become a lawyer. Due to civil unrest and student demonstrations, I had to leave Liberia abruptly and further my education overseas. The University was closed temporarily and remained shut down for some time and I was unable to receive my final transcripts timely. I needed plan B. Right after high school, I received a scholarship to attend a private business school which rented space from my parents, where I was introduced to accounting and fell in love with the subject. After a long wait, my strong skills in Math confirmed my decision to switch my major and shift my focus to accounting and become a CPA.
Faustina serves as a board member of the International Association of Venue Managers’ Audit Committee. She also serves on the Board of the Georgia State University Advisory Council – School of Accountancy and the Georgia State University Executive MBA Alumni Club. Faustina has also provided advisory services to the government of Liberia as well as assisting recently with the 26th Presidential Inaugural ceremony held in Liberia.

Faustina is a graduate of Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson School of Business where she received both her Executive MBA degree and bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is an active Licensed CPA and holder of the CGMA (Chartered Global Managerial Accountant) designation. Faustina is a devoted mother to two children and enjoys live music, especially contemporary jazz.
