Life & Work with Erin Corrigan of Historic Downtown Canton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Corrigan.

Hi Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dr. Erin was an Air Force kid, was raised in multiple different states and has family all over the country. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in Rehabilitation and Human Services. After her time at PSU, Dr. Erin had the opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious chiropractic schools in the world and the epicenter of chiropractic, Life University in Marietta, Georgia. There, Dr. Erin had opportunities to attend some of the most advanced training and seminars offered. She completed her doctorate in 2017 and moved to Canton, GA with her significant other, dog and cat. You can find them outside enjoying the beautiful Georgia mountains or doing yoga.

Dr. Erin was a competitive gymnast her entire childhood and was first introduced to chiropractic care as a means of pain relief. As an athlete, she understands the mindset of willingness to do anything to continue training and competing. At the time, this included many different therapies, taped joints and pain relievers to train through injuries. When she retired from gymnastics, years of abuse on her body and gut caught up with her while in college and was referred to seek chiropractic care. She then learned of chiropractic’s ability to aid in overall wellness and healing, beginning her personal journey towards optimal health.

Dr. Erin has always felt a call to action of helping people and empowering others to love their body. Chiropractic is a profession that allows her to truly get to know patients, help them achieve their highest potential and reach the health goals they have always wanted. Watching people transform into happier, more energetic, self-loving and empowered individuals is why she gets up every morning. She believes it is the most rewarding job in the world and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Dr. Erin has experience working with thousands of people, from infants, pediatrics, prenatal, athletes, and geriatrics. Awaken also hosts other healthcare professionals such as massage therapists, reiki and reflexology, and function nutrition with lab-work analysis.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running a small business—especially a healing-centered practice—is full of learning curves. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to continually adapt our systems as our patient base grows. When I first opened, the schedule was simple and predictable. As more families, children, and wellness-minded individuals began to come in, I had to rethink how to structure our days in a way that preserved the calm, intentional environment that is so central to our care.

Another ongoing challenge has been discerning which new technologies and modalities to bring into the practice. There are always new tools and trends in the wellness space, but not everything translates into true clinical value. I’ve had to learn how to balance innovation with intention—investing only in resources that genuinely support patient outcomes and deepen the level of care we provide.

These challenges have shaped me into a more thoughtful, adaptable leader. They’ve pushed me to trust my intuition, listen closely to the needs of the people we serve, and always commit to evolving—without ever compromising the heart of the practice.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a member of the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association), I specialize specifically in perinatal and pediatric chiropractic care and I’m certified in the Webster Technique. My practice is known for being a boutique-style office where we take the time to truly understand you. We go in-depth with your history, perform thorough exams, and practice from an evidence-informed perspective that prioritizes long-term wellness, not just quick fixes.

What I’m most proud of is the way our care evolves with the person in front of us. As practice members grow, heal, or move into new seasons of life—pregnancy, postpartum, early childhood development, athletic demands—we adapt our care plans to support those changing needs. Nothing about our approach is one-size-fits-all.
What really sets us apart is the intentional environment and the depth of relationship we build with the families we serve. People don’t just feel adjusted—they feel seen, supported, and understood.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as joy—not the idea of being happy every moment, but a steady sense of meaning and fulfillment in both my personal and professional life. For me, success isn’t measured by numbers or monetary benchmarks. It’s knowing that the work I do has positively impacted someone’s life, supported their health, or helped them move through a season with more ease and confidence. If I can end each day feeling grounded, connected, and in alignment with my purpose, that is success.
