Community Highlights: Meet Kristin Wright of P360 Physical Therapy & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Wright.

Hi Kristin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sports and injuries have been my passion for as long as I can remember. I joined my first organized sports team when I was just five years old and haven’t stopped since! Athletics opened many doors for me, including the chance to attend my dream school, Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where I excelled as a dual-sport athlete in Ice Hockey and Softball. Following graduation, I was fortunate enough to continue playing hockey professionally and internationally, which led to one of the highlights of my career, earning a Bronze Medal with Team USA at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. Throughout my athletic journey, I developed a deep interest in anatomy and physiology, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and human performance. That curiosity inspired me to become a Student Athletic Trainer in high school, earn a Master’s in Athletic Training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and later a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating and moving to Georgia, I had the privilege of honing my skills and knowledge by treating a wide variety of injuries and impairments in a hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation clinic. However, over time I grew frustrated with the limited amount of time with each patient, insurance dictating treatments, and lack of consistency. This is when I decided to take the next step in my professional journey and found P360 Physical Therapy & Wellness. P360 is a fully mobile physical therapy practice designed to bring high-quality, individualized care directly to patients with the mission of preventing injuries, making one-on-one therapy more accessible, and helping people move better, feel better, and perform at their best.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a smooth road. Creating the LLC and officially starting the business was surprisingly the easiest part! Combing through the rules and regulations of patient care has been more involved than expected, as well as website creation, marketing, and social media. I failed miserably to create my own website, so I had to phone a friend to save my sanity. Marketing and social media are also not my strong suit, as I try to stay off my phone and computer as much as I can, but it is a necessity in today’s online world. I’m constantly working up the courage to put out content and have more of an online presence.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about P360 Physical Therapy & Wellness?
P360 Physical Therapy & Wellness is unique in that it is a fully mobile business, meaning I provide all the necessary equipment and tools for the patient to have therapy and wellness in a time and location that is convenient for them. Not everyone is able to take an hour or two out of their day to travel to a clinic, so I make it easy and travel to them.

My motto for P360 is “Prevent – Prepare – Perform” and my mission and one of the main reasons for creating P360 Physical Therapy & Wellness is to prevent injuries and provide patients with personalized one-on-one care.

Knee injuries are my passion and why I earned my ACL prevention certification through Cincinnati Sports Metrics. I tore my ACL in graduate school and know first-hand how extensive and grueling the rehabilitation process is. ACL tears in women’s sports today are at historic levels. They are a life changing injury and I hope to do my part to significantly decrease the incidence of ACL tears especially in girls and women’s sports.

Additionally, falls in our older adult populations have devastating consequences and total more than $4 trillion in healthcare costs per year in the U.S! I have my OTAGO Exercise Program certification which is an evidence-based falls prevention program that older adults can perform in their home to significantly reduce their risk for falls. Unfortunately, most people don’t know they are at a risk for falls until they have a fall, but thankfully, no matter your age, everyone can improve their balance and decrease their risk for falls.

Furthermore, I am a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), which basically means I specialize in orthopedic injuries and evidence-based rehabilitation, as well as manual therapy techniques like manipulations, mobilizations, cupping, and dry needling.

Lastly, P360 is different not only because I provide mobile physical therapy & wellness services but because clients will receive expert, evidence-based care, in an exclusive one-on-one environment, with treatments tailored specifically to their individual needs. The benefits of personalized sessions are numerous, including but not limited to, fostering a stronger therapeutic alliance, faster recovery, and a greater sense of self-efficacy.

I’m most proud of my brand in that I am truly invested and devoted to my patient’s health and wellness. I treat and care for you like family and once you become a part of P360, you’ll always be a part of P360!

What matters most to you?
The thing that matters to me the most is having the opportunity to be an integral part in helping people achieve their goals and live happy, healthy lives. I love hearing about patients accomplishing things they never thought they would be able to do and being a part of that journey. You and your body are capable of more than you think! Also, if I am able to prevent even just one person from falling or one person from tearing their ACL and being able to live their life to their fullest and accomplish their goals, that is my purpose achieved and why I do what I do on a daily basis.
