Hi Angie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
About eight years ago, when I was struggling to find my own home and rental property, I realized how challenging the real estate journey can be—especially as a first-generation immigrant in the U.S. The culture, language, and unfamiliar systems made the process even harder. I started sharing my experiences and knowledge with friends around me, and soon I realized that I could help many others who were facing the same challenges.
While studying full-time at Georgia Tech, I continued working as a real estate agent. At the same time, I developed a strong passion for interior design. I noticed that many of my classmates were struggling to find good opportunities in the labor market, and I thought—why keep asking for a job when I can create one?
After careful consideration and the right timing, I founded AJ Summit Realty and AJ Staging Design. By combining my design skills with my real estate expertise, I’m able to help buyers and sellers solve problems creatively throughout the process—from finding the right property to transforming it into a beautiful home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started as a new agent, it was very challenging. Even though I had completed all the training and earned my license, I quickly realized that the real world is completely different. There was no mentor to guide me—no one to tell me how to write a contract, find potential clients, or negotiate effectively. And as a new agent without experience, no one just hands you clients.
At that time, I felt lost. But I didn’t give up. I started learning from colleagues, asked questions, and visited hundreds of homes to really understand the strengths and weaknesses of different properties. Through those experiences, I built my confidence and knowledge step by step. Looking back, those struggles were the foundation that helped me grow into the agent and business owner I am today.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Yes — finding a mentor is extremely important. Based on my own experience starting out without one, the road can be very tough and confusing. That’s why, in my company, I created a mentorship system to help new licensed agents quickly get familiar with the industry and have strong support from experienced professionals.
Networking is also key in real estate. It’s not just about business connections — it’s about building relationships, sharing resources, and supporting each other. A strong network helps you learn faster, grow faster, and ultimately achieve success faster.
