Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphne Adams.
Hi Daphne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
During the wrapping up of a Med Tech course at a local nursing home, a longtime colleague offered his business and clientele to me because he was planning to retire. I was thankful and soon began shadowing his classes to learn the ropes of teaching. Soon after that, Nurse Mom and Family was born. My business now exists as a black owned health care training center, thanks to the students who travel from all across Georgia to take our classes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been smooth, but every challenge has played a vital role in shaping our resilience and purpose. Surviving through the COVID-19 pandemic was one of the greatest tests; it disrupted operations, created uncertainty, and forced us to completely rethink how to deliver services safely and effectively.
In addition to the pandemic’s impact, limited funding and resources made it difficult to grow at the pace we envisioned, but also to meet the demand of our students. We often had to do more with less, relying on creativity, teamwork, and strategic partnerships to keep our mission moving forward.
Another ongoing struggle has been gaining full industry buy-in, educating partners, employers, and the community about the value of what we offer and why it matters. It took persistence to earn trust and build relationships that align with our vision. Despite the obstacles, these experiences strengthened our determination, deepened our understanding of our community’s needs, and reaffirmed our commitment to creating meaningful impact through education, care, and empowerment.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Founded and led by Registered Nurse Daphne Adams, the company provides high-quality, hands-on certification courses including Certified Medication Aide (CMA), CPR/BLS/Heartsaver, and other health education programs.
Beyond training, Nurse Mom and Family promotes workforce development, compliance awareness, and community wellness, intending to bridge the gap between education and real-world healthcare needs. Through experienced instructors and a supportive learning environment, we empower students to gain the skills, confidence, and credentials needed to succeed in hospitals, clinics, and home care settings across Georgia.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is leaving a lasting legacy for my children and transforming the experience for healthcare workers like myself who have taken unconventional paths to achieve their goals. I believe that success should not be limited by circumstance but defined by determination, access, and opportunity.
Through Nurse Mom and Family, LLC, I strive to create pathways for others who may not have had traditional support or resources, helping them gain the education, certifications, and confidence needed to build fulfilling healthcare careers. By doing so, I hope to show my children and my community that perseverance, compassion, and purpose can reshape entire industries and inspire the next generation to dream bigger and serve better.
