Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jose Maria Llano of Canton

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jose Maria Llano. Check out our conversation below.

Jose Maria, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Morning:
– Check messages from your field team — someone probably closed a sale or needs help with a demo.
– Review inventory and shipments of Puronics systems.
– Post a quick branded tip or testimonial on social media — something like “Why Puronics beats bottled water every time.”

Midday: Field Hustle & Brand Building
– Jump on a Zoom with a new recruit. Walk them through how to pitch the system and close deals.
– Review marketing content , maybe tweak a banner or reel to make it pop.
– Handle customer questions: “Can this system handle well water?” “How long does the filter last?” You’ve got answers.

Afternoon: Growth Mode
– Plan your next training session — maybe bilingual, maybe live, maybe virtual.

Evening: Recharge & Reflect
– Scroll through feedback from customers.
– Brainstorm tomorrow’s post with my wife/partner. She is on charge of the social media campaigns . Something clean, bold, and educational.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Back in university, one of my friends told me I should run for student body president. I hadn’t really thought about it, but I went for it. After a few intense weeks of campaigning, I won. That moment showed me I had leadership in me.
At the same time, I tried out for the Universidad de Guanajuato soccer team — and I made it. For the next four years, I played with the team and competed in championships across the region. Between leading students and representing my university on the field, I discovered something powerful: I had what it takes to lead, to inspire, and to push myself beyond limits.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
“There was a moment I almost gave up…”

Starting H2O Prime International right after the pandemic hit was like jumping into a storm with no map. People were still recovering, uncertain about the future, and hesitant to invest in anything — let alone a water filtration system. I had a vision, but the world felt like it was working against it.

There were days when the phone didn’t ring. Days when I questioned if I made the right move. I was burning through savings, trying to build a team, and getting hit with rejection after rejection. I remember sitting in my car after a no-show appointment, thinking, *“Is this really going to work?”*

But then I’d get a message from a customer saying their water tasted better than ever. Or a new rep would close their first deal and light up with confidence. That’s when I realized — this wasn’t just about selling filters. It was about changing lives, starting with clean water and growing into something bigger.

So yeah, I almost gave up. But I didn’t. And now, every time I see my team winning, every time a family thanks us for helping them, I know it was worth it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I Lead with Heart
I don’t just talk about success — I show people how to chase it. Whether it’s coaching my team at H2O Prime International or mentoring young entrepreneurs, my energy is real, my advice is lived, and my mission is personal.

My Family Is My Foundation
Behind every training, every post, every win — there’s a man raising five kids and showing them what hard work, faith, and vision look like. I am not just building a business. I am building a legacy.

I Try to Show Up Authentically
My Social media is not polished perfection — its real talk, real hustle, and real impact. I share struggles, wins, and lessons. I speak to people in their language, and I make them feel seen.

So yes — the public version of me *is* the real me. It’s the José María who wakes up early, pushes through setbacks, celebrates his team, and still makes time to be a present dad and husband. I am not performing. I am living it.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Not Scaling H2O Prime to Its Full Potential
I’ve built something powerful with H2O Prime International — a brand that educates, empowers, and improves lives. If I hold back, I’ll regret not expanding into new markets, building a stronger teams. I”ve got the vision. Don’t let hesitation shrink it.

Not Being Fully Present with My Kids
I am raising five future leaders. If I get too caught up in the grind and miss the soccer games, the talks, the little moments — that’ll sting later. My business is important, but my family is my legacy.

Not Sharing My Story Loud Enough
My Instagram shows I’ve got a message that resonates. But if I don’t push it further — more videos, more lives, maybe even a book — I’ll regret not reaching the people who needed my voice.

Not Investing in My Own Growth
I am a coach and a motivator, but if I don’t keep sharpening my own mindset, learning new skills, and surrounding myself with mentors, I’ll feel stuck. I owe it to myself to keep evolving.
