Inspiring Conversations with Arthur G Togbah of Fertile Multimedia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arthur G Togbah.

Arthur G Togbah

Hi Arthur G, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story begins not in a boardroom, but in my father’s room, with a camera I wasn’t supposed to touch. As an educator and social worker, he used it to document his community engagement for his reports, and my fascination with it was immediate. I’d secretly use it, taking pictures around the house, learning by doing. That was the initial, unofficial spark. The formal journey into media started through my church, where I volunteered in their media department for four years. That experience gave me a foundation, which I then built upon by volunteering at a local radio station, Radio Harvest. It was there that my understanding of the media landscape truly broadened. Despite this growing interest, my formal education took me in a different direction. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Starz University, originally envisioning a career as an IT specialist. The real turning point came not long after. I found myself unable to secure a vacation job, so I channeled my energy into volunteering with various organizations and startups to build my skills. This period was crucial for two reasons: First, I realized that a traditional 9-to-5 job with its layers of bureaucracy wasn’t for me. I craved the freedom to create and execute my own ideas. Second, I noticed a gap in the local market a lack of media production that met the international quality I knew we were capable of achieving in Liberia.
That’s when I took the leap. I started my company, I began with very little, renting cameras and funding my early gear through small graphic design contracts. I learned by doing, making mistakes, and reinvesting every bit of profit back into the business to build long-term capacity, even when it was a risky thing to do.
From those humble beginnings, the company has grown into a group with distinct arms: ELITE Wedding for our wedding services, and Elite Illustrations for TV shows, podcasts, and film production. We’ve moved from volunteers to a multimedia company that works on everything from marketing and communications to full-scale productions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. The road has been far from smooth, but each struggle has been a crucial lesson. In the beginning, the two biggest hurdles were access to information and equipment. I started without a full understanding of how to properly structure a business. When we began working with international partners, I quickly realized I lacked basic business structure and documents and had to learn how to build those systems from the ground up. At the same time, gear like cameras and lights was prohibitively expensive. I started by renting equipment and slowly reinvested profits from smaller jobs like graphic design to buy my own.
Once I established the business systems, a new challenge emerged: getting clients accustomed to them. Introducing processes like booking forms and contracts was often met with hesitation, as it wasn’t the norm here. I’ve remained committed to them because I believe in raising professional standards.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Fertile Multimedia?
At its core, my business, Fertile Multimedia, is a creative ecosystem designed to elevate the standard of media and storytelling in Liberia. We operate as a multimedia company and production house, but we’re structured to nurture various creative specialties under one umbrella.

What We Do and Our Specializations
We have distinct arms that allow us to specialize without sacrificing the breadth of our vision:
* Fertile Multimedia Company: This is our foundation. We provide professional services in communications, marketing, social media management, and graphic design for businesses.
* ELITE Wedding: This is one of our most recognized brands. We specialize in comprehensive wedding coverage, handling everything from photography and videography to full event design, ensuring the day is captured with elegance and precision.
* Elite Illustrations: This is our dynamic production arm. We produce television shows, podcasts, documentaries, and music videos. We are currently known for our podcast, The Elite Crib Session, and our TV show, Ties and Bonds.

What Sets Us Apart
Our uncompromising commitment to producing quality & professionalism. From the very beginning, I was driven by a desire to prove that international standard media production could originate right here in Liberia, eliminating the need for businesses to look abroad for these services. I believe that professionalism is just as important as creativity.

What I’m Most Proud Of Brand-Wise
I am most proud that our brand has become synonymous with quality, trust, and reliability. Our reputation is not just built on the quality of the work we deliver, but on the relationships we build. The majority of our contracts come from referrals and repeat clients, which tells me we are delivering an experience, not just a service. We’ve created a brand that people feel confident recommending.

What I Want Your Readers to Know
I want your readers to know that Fertile Multimedia is more than just a service provider. Our ultimate goal is to be a hub for creatives—a platform that supports, trains, and collaborates with the next generation of Liberian storytellers, filmmakers, and designers. Every wedding we shoot, every show we produce, and every brand we build is a step towards a larger vision: to transform the media landscape in Liberia and across the region, creating a legacy of excellence that empowers others.

What makes you happy?
What makes me truly happy is the act of creation and its lasting impact. There’s a profound satisfaction in taking an idea and turning it into something tangible, be it a stunning photograph, a compelling film, or a successful brand strategy.
