Conversations with Yara Castro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yara Castro.

Yara Castro

Hi Yara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for beauty really began back in 2014, when I launched a YouTube channel just for fun and shared makeup tutorials. I am originally from Brasil so at the time beauty videos were becoming big over there so I wanted to doit here in the USA, I didn’t know then where it would lead, but I always loved the idea of helping people feel confident through beauty.

Fast forward to 2019 and I discovered permanent makeup. Everything changed. I took a leap of faith and flew to Austin, Texas to train in microblading with Agata Soldato, it was an intense weekend, full of mapping brows, learning technique and artistry, and I left feeling so inspired. From there, I couldn’t stop learning. In 2020, I found Gabi Brows in Marietta, GA, where I really developed my skills and learned what it meant to be a true brow artist. That experience shaped me so much and helped me grow into the artist I am today.

In 2024 I opened Yara Beauty PMU & Aesthetics in downtown Alpharetta, pouring love into every detail, from the studio vibe and coffee bar to the services I offer. And in my first year we were honored to win the “Best of Business Rate 2025 – Eyebrow Bar in Alpharetta, GA.” Based on Google Reviews and nominated by our own clients.

Today I specialize in brows and permanent makeup, everything from brow lamination and lash lift to powder brows (Brazilian shadow), microblading and lip blush. I love that each service isn’t just about pretty brows, it’s about helping someone feel more like themselves, more confident and more seen.

Looking back from that first YouTube video to now owning my own studio and earning industry recognition, it’s been one incredible journey and I’m so grateful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes it so meaningful. When I first decided to take this path, I didn’t have everything figured out. I was balancing work, training, and trying to build a future doing something I loved, which wasn’t always easy.

One of my biggest challenges was taking that leap from working for someone else to opening my own studio. There were a lot of unknowns, financial risks, self-doubt, and all the behind-the-scenes things that people don’t always see, like licensing, branding, marketing, and building a client base from scratch.

Another big challenge was learning to trust myself as an artist. In the beginning, it’s easy to compare your work to others or question if you’re “ready.” I had to remind myself that growth takes time and that every client who trusted me was part of my journey towards becoming a better artist.

There were also personal challenges, long days, moments of stress, and times when I wondered if I was doing the right thing. But looking back, every obstacle pushed me to become stronger, more confident, and more passionate about what I do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Yara Beauty PMU & Aesthetics, I specialize in enhancing natural beauty through brows and permanent makeup. My focus is on creating results that look soft, natural, and tailored to each person’s unique features, I really believe no two faces are the same, so no two brows should ever be either.

I offer services like brow design, brow lamination, lash lifts, microblading, powder brows, and lip blush. But beyond the techniques, what I’m truly known for is creating an experience, from the cozy studio vibe to the coffee bar where clients can relax and feel at home.

I think what sets me apart is the level of care and precision I put into each service. I’m very detail-oriented, and I always take my time mapping and customizing every look to fit my client’s face shape, skin tone, and personality. I’ve learned that it’s not just about doing brows, it’s about building trust and helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how far my business has come in such a short time. In my first year, we won Best of Business Rate 2025 – Eyebrow Bar in Alpharetta, GA, which was such an incredible moment for me. But honestly, the biggest reward is when clients leave smiling and telling me they’ll be back, that means they trust me, and it tells me I’m doing something right. That’s the feeling that keeps me inspired every single day.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest are the moments of connection with my clients, when they rebook their appointments or leave a kind review sharing how much they loved their experience. It’s such a special feeling to know that the trust I’ve built through my work means enough for them to come back and recommend me to others.

I’m also incredibly grateful for the freedom that comes with being my own boss. Being able to provide for my family, create my own schedule, and have flexibility in my day-to-day life is something I don’t take for granted. It’s one of the biggest reasons I work so hard, because it allows me to balance my passion with my personal life.

And honestly, happiness for me is also found in the quiet, simple moments, making my morning coffee, planning creative ideas for my business, and taking a second to appreciate how far I’ve come. It’s those little things that keep me grounded, motivated, and fulfilled.
