Today we’d like to introduce you to Roswell Fine Arts Alliance .

Roswell Fine Arts Alliance

Hi Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Roswell Fine Arts Alliance is a non-profit organization that exists to encourage and motivate artists in the North Fulton community to experience personal creative growth and to foster awareness with fine-art related educational activities.

Founded in 1971 by a group of 10 artists, Roswell Fine Arts Alliance has grown to over 125 members. Our membership includes all levels of artists from beginner to professional with the goal of helping each other to learn new techniques, improve their work and succeed in the art world.

From 10 members originally meeting in a renovated farm building we are now located in Art Center East on Fouts Road in Roswell with gallery and classroom space. We sponsor educational programs, exhibitions and demonstrations for members and encourage young and emerging artists.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have nurtured a steady growth in membership over our 50+ years and our ability to provide opportunities to our members. In addition to our gallery we are always looking for venues in the community to exhibit members’ art to further recognition of our group and our members.

Covid, as with many organizations, created struggles as membership decreased during that time when meetings were not possible. However, since Covid passed we have been fortunate to have significantly increased membership and opportunities to exhibit members’ art.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Roswell Fine Arts Alliance is primarily focused on 2-dimensional art. Members work in oil painting, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, pencil and charcoal, mixed media, and collage. One goal for the future is to include 3-dimensional art in our mix.

Many of our members have won awards for their work locally, regionally and beyond.

We have supported student growth in the arts in the North Fulton community for over 30 years with the North Fulton County High School Art Show. Cash awards and ribbons are awarded at the annual reception at the Roswell Visual Arts Center. Annually we donate to the Friends of Roswell to sponsor two campers to the Adaptive Summer Camp.

We are a very active arts organization and offer more for members’ growth and opportunities to exhibit than any other organization in the area. We have three major shows each year: Genesis, People Places & Thingamabobs, and A Taste for Art. We also have an additional 4-5 smaller shows each year with themes that change from year to year..

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We have partnered with the Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) for over 10 years in their Butterfly Festival providing give-away original, one-of-a-kind illustrated butterfly cards and plein air demonstrations.

For 10 years have we have participated with the Georgia Nature Photographers Association to organize the annual “Double Vision” show at CNC in which photos are provided to members to paint their interpretation of the photos and then exhibited side by side at CNC.

Annually we produce and donate original Compassionate Canvases to the Drake House Shelter for Women and Children.
