Community Highlights: Meet Medha Krishen of MedhaForce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Medha Krishen.

Medha Krishen

Hi Medha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi I’m Medha Krishen, I’m a music lawyer and host events for creatives and innovators who live life urgently so they can meet their next collaborators.

Growing up, I was a competitive figure skater. When I was 13 I injured myself and while I was recovering I started experimenting in the kitchen because I love sweets and was trying to find a way to make desserts healthier so I could have it everyday without losing all the progress I made that season.

When I got back to training, I was eating lunch one day when another ice skater approached me and asked where I got my lunch from. I told her I made it & she kept saying how she wished she could get a lunch like mine at the rink. I told her if she gave me $10 right now I can bring her the same lunch tomorrow and that is how I accidentally started my catering business.

Shortly afterwords, I started my food blog & someone unfortunately stole my intellectual property (IP) off my blog. I never knew about IP law until that moment and thought it was super interesting. The lawyer that I spoke to in order to help me recover damages didn’t understand why I was posting recipes on the internet. At that moment I realized there was a gap between the creative and legal world. Thankfully, I was able to get that person to stop stealing my work, but was unable to recover any monetary damages.

I originally wanted to go to culinary school, but the University of Michigan gave me a huge scholarship that I couldn’t turn down. I always wanted to travel and since my parents are immigrants I am naturally good at communicating with people from different cultures, therefore I decided to become a diplomat. I majored in History and International Relations, had the opportunity to study/ intern abroad four times (all on UofM’s dime!). During my senior year I finally received my first full time diplomacy offer and was over the moon. Unfortunately, COVID started 1 week later and my job was rescinded.

I decided to work in domestic politics in the meantime and quickly realized it was not meant for me and decided to take my catering and food blog business full time. I wrote a 2 year plan to make it happen and thankfully after 8 months I hit all the goals I set for myself and took my businesses full time.

Since learning about IP law, I always knew that one day I would most likely be the bridge between the legal and creative world. Some of my closet friends are creatives and I saw all the deals they were signing onto and the lawyers they were speaking with were not able to fully understand what my friends were doing. I decided to apply to law school shortly afterwords.

In law school, I took copyright law as a class and one day my professor went over music law and I didn’t understand a single word she said in class. I went home started reading books, listening to podcasts and videos about music law just to understand the industry. After several months, I started attending conferences and events about entertainment and specifically music law and I would regularly reach out to music lawyers to hear about their journey. One music lawyer recommended me to a music law firm without telling me and I received an internship there.

Working at that firm made me realize I wanted to pursue music law full time and thankfully now after graduating from law school I am a music lawyer now.

I recently started my events company, MedhaForce, since I’ve attended so many events and many attendees have been telling me they are wanting to build a community with individuals who are also consistently pursuing their dreams and be able to meet them in person. My events are specifically for creatives and innovators who live life urgently since so many people have incredible ideas, but not as many execute on them. My first event will be later this holiday season, which I am so excited for!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been obstacles in the road. But through every obstacle I’ve learned a lot and received so many blessing so I can’t complain. But if I were to share all the challenges I’ve faced, we would be here for the next 24 hours.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
MedhaForce is my events company hosting events for creatives and innovators who live life urgently so they can meet their next collaborators. I had the idea for this business October 1st of this year and by the next week I was planning 2 events for this holiday season.

Currently, I am planning several workshops where the guests can learn from other artists while meeting other people who are like-minded and like-hearted.

I am also working with award-winning composer Jackson A. Waters on his
Live Room Opus Sessions. These are recorded and filmed performance series showcasing artists from different genres collaborating with classical ensembles in intimate venues. Season 2 of Live Room Opus Sessions will begin on January 17, 2026. More details will be shared on Live Room’s website.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I was born in the Bronx in poverty and my family and I lived beneath the poverty line for several years. My parents worked really hard for my sister and I and they brought us out of poverty as we got older. I get my work ethic and drive from watching my parents provide for us growing up.

My parents were the ones who enrolled my sister and I in free extracurricular activities where I was able to learn how to figure skate and play the piano. Both of these skills have greatly benefited me today.
