Hi Lanaya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hey guys I’m Lanaya Sonceair the CEO of 718MM( Music Minds) Records. My story really started in Atlanta, where my passion for music and creativity first came to life. I’ve always had an ear for talent, especially artists who may not have the biggest platform yet but have something real and powerful to say. In 2023, I decided to turn that passion into purpose by launching 718MM Records. A label built on artist development, structure, and authenticity.
When I started, it was just me and my vision. No big team, no investors, just a dream, faith, and a lot of late nights figuring it out. I wanted to create something that gave underground artists real direction, teaching them how to move professionally, build their image, and understand the business side of music.
Now, 718MM Records has expanded between Chicago Illinois, Atlanta Georgia, and Dayton, Ohio, connecting different sounds and cultures while keeping that same underground energy. It’s been a journey filled with challenges, but every step has helped me grow into the CEO and creative I’m meant to be. This label represents hard work, faith, and the belief that independent artists can build their own success. And honestly we’re just getting started!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Between personal life changes, moving states, and learning the ins and outs of running a label, it’s been a journey full of lessons. Toward the end of 2023 through mid-2025, we actually had to take a step back and temporarily shut things down to refocus and rebuild the foundation of 718MM Records. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Transitioning between Atlanta, Chicago, and Dayton came with its own set of challenges, finding new resources, building a stronger team, and keeping the vision alive while artists came and went. But through all of it, I never lost sight of the bigger picture. Now, we’re coming back better than ever. With Lauren, my amazing label manager, by my side and a few solid artists who believe in the mission, we’re in full effect preparing for our official relaunch next year. This time around, it’s all about consistency, structure, and passion.
Life happens things fall apart so better things can come together. Every challenge has only made me stronger as a CEO and taught me that even when it gets hard, you keep pushing, because purpose doesn’t quit.

As a creative and the CEO of 718MM Records, my work is all about artist development, structure, and authenticity. I specialize in helping underground and independent artists find their sound, build their brand, and understand the business behind their music. My focus isn’t just on making hits, it’s on helping artists grow into the version of themselves that can sustain success. What sets me apart is that I’m hands-on with everything from creative direction to rollout strategies to visual storytelling. I’ve built 718MM Records to be a space where artists don’t just sign a deal; they learn, evolve, and create something meaningful. I’m most proud of how far the label has come, even through setbacks. I’ve had to rebuild, relocate, and restart more than once, but every time, the vision gets clearer. Right now, we’re in the middle of preparing for our relaunch, and seeing everything come back together stronger than before reminds me why I started. At the end of the day, I’m a creative who believes in purpose. My work is about giving artists the structure and confidence they need to turn their talent into legacy.

Right now, we’re focused on expanding opportunities for underground talent whether that’s through collaborations, live performances, interviews, or community-based events. We also want to partner with others who share that same passion for supporting independent artistry, from media outlets and local businesses to creatives in photography, videography, fashion, and more. We’re even planning to do charity and community events that give back while showcasing our artists and brand.
