Life & Work with Joshua Bartolotti of Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Bartolotti.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I didn’t always know I wanted to do this. I had originally majored in opera performance and had a minor in digital arts, but I could tell it wasn’t going to be the life I wanted. I, I’m sure like many that age, felt a bit lost after leaving college. I eventually landed a job in real estate marketing at a local Atlanta brokerage with my background in digital arts and my knowledge of social media. I began to understand what realtors needed from their marketing and could see an ever growing need for great media in the Atlanta market. I remember one day talking to my uncle, who is also an entrepreneur, what he thought I could do. He suggested real estate photography. I knew immediately that was a nugget of gold I could follow. From there I taught myself photography and videography from YouTube. I was so fortunate that I had my background in music and digital arts that I could use as my foundation for editing and composition. I was also lucky enough to have an entire office of agents who already trusted me and I was able to eventually start my own business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel lucky that I was raised on a farm, and spent my childhood watching my father work very hard, be a kind and fair businessman, and teach me the basics of these principles that I have brought with me to my business.

When I started around 2015 real estate media was in its fledgling form. There were very few of us and we were all stabbing in the dark bringing this art from to life.

I really thought that Covid was going to be the end of my business, little did I know that I was being set up for success. The need for media became even greater and I was just getting my business established enough to be able to supply that.

One of the struggles I’ve had is growth. I quickly learned that I wasn’t going to be able to do this alone. My husband, Natan, quit his job in the medical field to join me full time. He now is head of our photography department and I the video department. I then looked around my friend group and saw such talent and potential. Now I’m lucky enough to work with my very best friends who provide their amazing personalities and talents to the business as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what sets us apart is our small boutique nature.

On a personal level I want to get to know each and every agent we work with, to see how they run their business and brand so I can create media that helps reflect and elevate them. When you work with BMedia you work with a group of five dedicated individuals who all want you to not only sell your listing but leave with marketing that is going to showcase you on a global level and leave with a feeling that we have your back every step of the way.

Our media is also what sets us apart. I am able to draw from my classical background and was fortunate to develop my style before there were people to mimic. My videos are always inspired first by the grandeur and spectacle of the opera world that I think fits so very well with the architectural style of Atlanta. We mix that with modern ever expanding technology to make sure your media is always at the ahead of the curve.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First, I’d like to say I am in no way a self made man. I have the support of a perfect spouse and business partner, an inspiring team of friends who are just as passionate about the field as I am, and a few notable others a long the way.

First, I’d be nothing without Gold Lens Media. He took me under his wing when I was just starting and taught me the basics of the field. He believed in me and I try to take that same mentality and share what I know freely with other new artists just starting out. So if you’re reading this and thinking about starting, reach out, we can grab coffee!

Second, there have been many agents who have supported my business from the beginning that I still work with today. The Lowe Baumann group, Liz Scruggs, Chase Mizell who is an endless fount of inspiration and a constant masterclass in how to run a business, and many many others who have helped and supported me.
