Today we’d like to introduce you to Mi’Chel Bombshell.
Hi Mi’Chel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my esthetics journey in 2017 after graduating from esthetician school. Nothing about this path came easy. After losing my father to senseless violence, experiencing homelessness, and going through a series of toxic relationships, I knew I wanted, and deserved, more from life.
Since my father’s passing in 2012, I’ve chased my dreams with everything in me. I started doing makeup at Allure, an Atlanta strip club, while renting space inside someone else’s suite. At the same time, I worked at a makeup kiosk in Cumberland Mall. I was hustling, whatever it took to build the life I envisioned.
That dedication helped me build a loyal clientele and eventually open my own suite. Along the way, doors started opening. I had the privilege of working with celebrities, directors, producers, and major production teams. I’ve worked with Jeezy, Lil Baby, Young Dolph, Tokyo Vanity, Tamar Braxton, Drew Sidora, Hitman Holla’s wife Cinnamon, the Decision Decisions podcast team, and many more. I’ve even done male grooming on Jeezy for a magazine cover and glam for on-set models.
To look at where I am now, and where I’m headed, compared to where I started is nothing but God. He continues to push me forward every day, reminding me that I haven’t reached my divine blessing yet… but it’s so close.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t. Originally from Kansas City, MO, when I moved to Atlanta in 2011, before I could even get truly comfortable, as I started earlier, I lost my father. I had to grieve his death while navigating life in a new city and figuring things out at a young age. I was down here alone, so finding my way wasn’t easy, but I knew I couldn’t quit. I always told myself I’d rather struggle in Atlanta chasing my dreams than struggle back home with fewer options and opportunities.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional published makeup and brow artist, licensed in esthetics and microblading, with nearly a decade of experience in the beauty industry. I’m best known for my flawless makeup applications, clean and precise work, and the magazine covers and high-profile projects I’ve had the honor of contributing to.
What I’m most proud of is the business I’ve built and sustained over the years, one rooted in passion, integrity, and excellence. I’m always evolving, recently expanding my expertise into microshading to offer my clients even more transformative beauty experiences. I believe in mastering my craft, and my work and service reflect that commitment every day.
What truly sets me apart is that I’m not in this industry for the money, I’m in it for the people. My customer service is top-tier, my care for each client is genuine, and my mission is always to ensure that every person who sits in my chair feels as beautiful as they look.
Few artists can offer both professional makeup and brow services in one space, performed by one licensed expert. That convenience, consistency, and luxury are what my clients value most, and it’s what I take pride in delivering.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Don’t go searching for a mentor, just put yourself in spaces where the people you aspire to be like are already showing up. That way, you can naturally cross paths with individuals you admire. From there, mentorship can develop organically, built on real chemistry and mutual respect.
When it comes to networking, I believe in being intentional. Look up events that align with who you are and what your brand represents. If you’re an MUA, consider attending women-focused or business events like Gurl Mobb events, or even fun, casual settings like a twerkout class, somewhere you can hand out your business cards afterward. Cute brunch events where women gather are also great opportunities to meet new people and connect.
These kinds of experiences have worked best for me (outside of social media) because they allow genuine interactions to happen naturally. People get to know you first, and that makes it easier for conversations about what you do to flow. It also helps potential clients or business partners truly remember you long after that first meeting.
