Meet Katherine Changlin of Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Changlin.

Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Definitely!

I’ve always been drawn to the joy and warmth that radiates from weddings and intimate events. There’s something so special about being able to witness the happiest of days and document those fleeting moments as they unfold.

A few years ago, I was introduced to the world of wedding photography while planning my own wedding. While looking through countless inspiration pictures, I came to realize how beautiful and unique wedding photography can be and was inspired by countless amazing photographers to pick up a camera and dive into this crazy but wonderful world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing can really prepare you for what starting a small business entails. It has not always been easy.

Creatively, it can be hard to find your voice in an industry that is already so full of talent and content. At times, it has been hard to focus on my own path without being influenced or discouraged by what others are doing.

And then there’s the business side of things. Having to learn how to market, balance finances, and manage client relationships has been a huge challenge. Luckily, I’m very fortunate to have so much support from my husband, who has been my business partner and biggest cheerleader since day one.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer specializing in weddings, elopements, and intimate events.

I spend a lot of time getting to know my couples so I can serve them in a way that makes sense based on their personalities and level of comfort in front of the camera.

My editing style is true to life and I place a lot of importance on highlighting natural skin tones, our vibrant Georgia greens, and blue skies in my edits.

I also shoot a good amount of 35mm film and love to incorporate film into my final galleries for variety.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I first moved to Atlanta in 2014 for college and fell in love with the culture and community I found in this city and especially at my university (go jackets!)

Atlanta has such a vibrant creative scene where so many business owners support one another and value community above all else. This has been so hugely encouraging throughout these last few years as I’ve built my business.
