Today we’d like to introduce you to Momolu Sherif.
Hi Momolu, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born into a family of immigrants. My parents came to America as refugees so everything that I am or will become in the future, I owe to them. That is where I get my drive and work ethic, but also my passion and empathy from. All qualities that led me to Kozy with my cofounder Jordan.
What started as a hobby in 2020 during Covid, has turned into a creative, talented team and an amazing organization rooted in authenticity, community, confidence and mental wellness. Mad kudos to Jordan for the vision. With the vision he set ,our ability to connect the dots and with people, and my leadership we have taken one small idea into small business.
We have a team that is growing, a business with momentum, we are focused on improving our respective communities through luxury basic leisurewear , community engaging events, and a constant reminder that create your own life and destiny, you just have to have the confidence to go after it.
Kozy is a lifestyle not just a brand you buy fire sweatshirts and crews from. Kozy is a community. True comfort goes deeper than what you wear. It’s not just about soft fabrics or relaxed fits; it’s about how you feel inside and out. To Stay Kozy means finding balance mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
So to be apart of something greater than myself has been amazing. To have a purpose greater than myself is the true gift. The journey has had a lot of ups and downs, and a lot of “NO’s” but to us that is really just a not yet. The time spent with our team, friends and families, and supporters means the world to me. Our community events this summer (more to come in 2026 so stay tuned) were the highlights of my summer. The hustle continues and I know you will be see a lot more from Kozy in the future.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This question has me weak LOL absolutely not it has not been a smooth road. However a calm ocean never made a skilled sailor…
Struggles- lets start with startup capital- simply put It’s not enough as Kendrick Lamar so famously said. Outside of that though, like anything that you are doing for the first time, you have to take those lumps. We have made a million mistakes from sizing, to under ordering, marketing mishaps to internal communications errors. The key is not making the same mistake twice, and always growing from those mistakes.
I certainly do not know it all and would never claim to. So I know there are more mistakes and mishaps a long the way. I want to clean up some little things when it comes to the business, and we will. The plan is to stay faithful, stay maniacal in following the vision and, continue to make plays for the team so that the road gets gets smother as we go along.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the cofounder of Kozy Brand, a lifestyle brand focused on creating comfort-driven products and experiences that bring warmth and joy to everyday life. Our mission is simple: to make people feel “Kozy” in every sense physically, emotionally, and socially through thoughtfully designed products and community-driven initiatives.
We specialize in premium comfort essentials: from apparel to curated home items designed with quality, style, and functionality in mind. Beyond products, we also specialize in community engagement, using our platform to advocate for causes like sickle cell disease awareness and support for underserved families.
Kozy is known for blending comfort with purpose. People recognize us for our clean, modern aesthetic, our signature branding and our commitment to giving back. Our annual toy drive for children with sickle cell disease at Children’s Healthcare of ATL is one example of how we turn brand values into real impact.
I’m most proud of the community we’ve built and the lives we’ve touched. One of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received outside of “this is so fire bro” came after our first community event in ATL this past June. An attendee I didn’t know walked up to me and said that the moment they stepped into the venue, they could feel the love and pure positive energy in the room. They said the people gave off incredible vibes, and that was just from walking in. Later, they told me their first impression was spot-on because the entire event was one of the best they’d attended in a long time.
Were they capping? I guess we’ll never know! But honestly, that’s exactly what I want to keep creating spaces where people feel love, feel connected, and feel great in everyday life. I’m proud that person felt like they were part of our Kozy community. And trust me, this is just the beginning. More to come, I promise you.
What sets Kozy apart is our fusion of lifestyle and advocacy. We’re not just selling comfort; we’re creating a culture of care. Every product and initiative reflects our belief that comfort should be inclusive and meaningful. While many brands focus solely on aesthetics or trends, we prioritize impact, authenticity, and emotional connection.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
That’s a great question, and honestly, I have a lot of thoughts. Some I’ll share, and some I’ll keep in the vault because I don’t want anyone running off with my ideas!
I think we’re about to see an upscale swing in fashion. Streetwear is forever goated and will always have its own lane, but I believe people are going to start really dressing up for even the smallest tasks like hitting the gas station or grabbing groceries. Folks are going to want to put that ISH on, period.
You can already see the influence of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Bottega in celebrity culture, but most people don’t have celeb money. That’s where fast-fashion giants like Shein come in people will chase the aesthetic for less. Sure, the quality might take a hit, but I get it. Times are tough, and you’ve got to get it how you live.
So yeah, that’s my hot take: expect a shift toward “upscale for the low,” where the vibe is luxury-inspired even if the price tag isn’t. What do you think?
