Meet Domenica Canessa of Lake Fox Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Domenica Canessa.

Hi Domenica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Peru and moved to the U.S. when I was nine. Growing up, I never imagined I’d run my own business because stability felt like the goal, and entrepreneurship didn’t seem appealing at all. I had this image of what running a company looked like, and it was not something I was interested in.

Instead, I spent ten years in consulting, working with clients from doctors to attorneys. Along the way, I learned how to lead teams into the unknown: how to set goals, navigate uncertainty, and turn challenges into motivating experiences. Then one day, a client I greatly admired told me I should consider branching out on my own. He said words I’ll never forget: “You’re the talent.” Those words stayed with me, and the following months moved incredibly quickly.

Suddenly, logo creation, branding, website building, defining services, deliverables, retention rates, and MRR became part of my daily routine. To my surprise, I loved it. The unknown became exciting and engaging. And it continues to be that way today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The cliché is so true: running your own business is full of emotional ups and downs. Full of exhilarating highs and challenging lows. There was a point when I had to go into the office, and I was at the end of my mental and financial runway, and I just lost it. I was drained and didn’t know what to do; there was no one to turn to for answers, which is a common challenge for business owners; it can be very lonely at times. I gave up that day and made the decision that if I didn’t get a new client by the end of the month, I’d quit. That month, I got two new clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lake Fox Group helps CEOs and their executive teams turn strategy into aligned execution. We specialize in diagnosing communication breakdowns, clarifying priorities, and realigning leadership teams around a shared vision.

Our work centers on Vision Days and Team Culture Alignment Workshops that combine strategic planning with behavioral insight. Using assessments like Kolbe® and PRINT®, we help leadership teams understand how they think, communicate, and make decisions, so they can operate with greater synergy and purpose.

What sets us apart is our ability to translate complex team dynamics into clear, actionable plans by using behavioral science and evidence-backed approaches. We don’t just help teams talk about alignment, we help them see it, measure it, and sustain it.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of being the team you call when the business isn’t broken, but the people running it aren’t living up to their potential. When you know more is possible, but can’t quite access it. We help uncover what’s blocking progress and turn it into measurable momentum.

At its core, Lake Fox Group helps organizations slow down to think clearly and move forward together with precision and purpose.

What’s next?
Looking ahead, our focus is on continuing to grow our book of business and partnering with both small and large organizations. I’m excited to expand the impact of our work, helping more executive teams align around strategy and achieve measurable results. Personally, I’m looking forward to sharing the insights I’ve gained from hundreds of executive meetings: seeing firsthand why organizations succeed or struggle, and using that knowledge to guide companies in finding their own solutions.
