Life & Work with Caitlin of Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin.

Hi Caitlin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my Makeup journey in 2009 when I attended Michigan College of Beauty for Esthetics. I graduated and moved to Chicago where I started working in Retail for brands like MAC, Christian Dior, Urban Decay, Bare Minerals and Smashbox. I spent the next 7 years learning trends, techniques and glam by the Pros for the everyday person. Along the way I did Burlesque makeup for Angela Eve productions and worked for Emmy Award winning Artist Melanie Mills. This really allowed me to experiment with creative, artistic makeup. I also worked on several short films (Hammmersmith, Good Mothers, Scutly) learning the ropes of working on a Film set which was so different and fun. In 2016 I joined Pin Me Up Chicago which is the leading Bridal Hair and Makeup Agency in Chicago. I still continue to work for them as a Makeup Artist and now we have just launched Pin Me Up Atlanta which will be the first expansion of the Chicago based Agency. I truly love what I do creating joy and showing every person that they already have natural beauty and teaching them how to look and feel their best.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the Beauty Industry, Imposter Syndrome is a thing! Especially when moving across the Country from Chicago where I was very well established to Atlanta where I was now New and felt as though I had to prove myself all over again. Believing in yourself is so important and staying kind to yourself. You can be successful anywhere you just need to get out and meet the people who can help you be your best self.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I love about being a true creative is that I see everything and everyone as a canvas. I would say these days I am known for soft, refined, romantic, and timeless Glam. What I know I can achieve is Runway, High Fashion, Avant Garde, Halloween and everything in between. I grew up with an Abstract painter as a Mother and I myself paint in Mixed Media format so when I get to translate that onto a face is truly exciting for me, But enhancing someone’s natural beauty will always hit me right in the heart strings.

Any big plans?
I am so excited to be the boots on the ground for the newest chapter of Pin Me Up Atlanta Bridal Hair and Makeup Agency.! The Chicago original has built an empire of amazing Artists and pleased thousands of happy Brides. To be able to spend my 10th year as the person who is at the front and center of this fresh new booming Market is truly a gift and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
