Check Out Wydney Viola Thomas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wydney Viola Thomas.

Hi Wydney Viola, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I studied Fashion Marketing and Management at The Art Institute of Hollywood in my hometown of Los Angeles. After graduating, I moved to London, England, where I launched my own line of leggings that were sold both online and in boutiques. In 2014, I relocated to Atlanta and began working in a local alterations shop before transitioning into the TV and film industry in 2019, where I served as a head tailor on a variety of productions—including television shows, music videos, commercials, and films.

Today, I proudly serve as the Manager of an Alterations Department for one of America’s most respected high-fashion retailers—an industry leader celebrated for its impeccable customer experience, luxury standards, and dedication to quality craftsmanship. I oversee a talented team of skilled professional tailors, ensuring each garment reflects precision, artistry, and the exceptional service the brand is known for nationwide.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me into the professional I am today. In the fashion industry, you have to constantly adapt—whether it’s evolving trends, demanding clients, or balancing creativity with business. When I first started, there were moments of uncertainty, especially when launching my own line in London and later transitioning into film and television tailoring. Each new environment came with its own set of pressures—tight deadlines, long hours, and the constant need to prove myself in competitive spaces.

Moving between cities and industries also meant rebuilding my network from scratch more than once, which tested my resilience and confidence. But those experiences taught me how to lead with grace under pressure, sharpen my technical skills, and truly value teamwork. Now, as a manager overseeing a team of professional tailors in a high-fashion retail environment, I can look back and see how every obstacle prepared me for leadership and success at this level.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in tailoring, garment construction, and fit—transforming pieces so they not only look beautiful but make people feel confident and comfortable. I’m known for my precision, creativity, and calm problem solving approach.

I’ve worked across many areas of fashion—from launching my own line in London to tailoring for TV and film, and now managing a team of skilled tailors in a high fashion retail environment. What I’m most proud of is my ability to blend artistry with leadership, bringing out the best in my team while delivering exceptional craftsmanship and service.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people who know me through my fashion work is that I’m also an excellent cook and a trained nail artist. I love creating—whether it’s designing a perfect fit, plating a beautiful meal, or doing flawless nails. For me, it’s all connected; each skill taps into my love for detail, aesthetics, and making people feel good. Creativity isn’t limited to one lane, it’s a lifestyle, and I bring that same passion and precision into everything I do.
