Ernesto, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
DR. ERNIE B. CANLAS is a Doctor of Medicine who specializes in the field of Dermatology, a Diplomate in Family Medicine, member of the Marikina Valley Medical Society, a long standing member of the Philippine Medical Association, and a fellow of the Philippine Academy of Clinical and Cosmetic Dermatology, has attended various conversations and symposiums here and overseas for continuous updates on medical and cosmetic dermatology, a person who loves traveling and visiting exciting places around the globe, the Consultant Doctor for Ysabel Aesthetics and MMIT- Tanay, and the owner of EBC Derm Wellness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the field of Cosmetic and Clinical Dermatology, the continuous developments both in treatments and machines is more of a challenge than an obstacle. For a Doctor specializing in Dermatology, one must be prepared with these changes to be competitive in the market. Derma patients are continually evolving as well. Treatment needs and requirements are varied depending on age, sex and even social classes thus it is very important that one is updated with the current trends and development.

What were you like growing up?
I always wanted to be a Medical Doctor. Back in high-school, I wrote in our class year book that my ambition is to become a doctor. Early on, I never had the idea though that as a medical doctor, I needed to specialize in some field that I am most interested in. At first I went into Family Medicine but along the way, I decided to pursue into something that I love thus I shifted into Dermatology.
