Hidden Gems: Meet SOLANGE GARCIA of La Tarjeteria LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to SOLANGE GARCIA.

Hi SOLANGE, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our journey began in Venezuela, driven by a simple love for design, storytelling, and celebrating life’s special moments. I, Solange, come from a communications and creative background, while my partner, Gilka, brings her strength in administration, operations, and leadership. Together, we built La Tarjetería—a small business that quickly became a beloved part of our community.

When life led us to the United States, we arrived with experience, hope, and the determination to start again. Rebuilding from zero was challenging, but it also strengthened our purpose. In 2017, we founded La Tarjetería LLC in Georgia, with the dream of honoring our culture while serving the Hispanic community in its most meaningful celebrations.

Over the years, our business has grown into a brand that blends emotion, tradition, and craftsmanship. We design invitations, create handmade pieces, and help entrepreneurs define their visual identity. More than a company, La Tarjetería is a reflection of our resilience and the bond we share as Latina women and business owners.

Today, we continue building side by side—my focus on creativity and communication, and Gilka’s on management and operations. Every project reminds us why we started: to create beauty, to inspire, and to leave a positive mark on our community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Emigrating meant leaving behind our professional careers in Venezuela and starting from scratch in a new country. We faced language barriers, the lack of a support network, and the challenge of adapting to a completely different business environment. As Latina entrepreneurs, we had to learn new systems, regulations, and financial processes while simultaneously rebuilding our personal stability.

The emotional side was also difficult. Leaving our home, our culture, and our community was painful, and the sense of having to “start over” was overwhelming at times. We navigated moments of uncertainty, especially during the pandemic, when events came to a halt and we had to reinvent our entire business model almost overnight.

But every challenge made us stronger. It pushed us to become more creative, resilient, and resourceful. The obstacles we faced ultimately became the foundation for our growth, and today we look back with gratitude, knowing that each struggle shaped the business we have built.

As you know, we’re big fans of La Tarjeteria LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
La Tarjetería LLC is a creative brand built with heart and purpose. We specialize in personalized invitations, event stationery, branding for entrepreneurs, and handcrafted pieces that celebrate Latino culture in the United States.

But what we do goes beyond design — we tell stories.
Every invitation, every visual identity, and every custom product we create carries emotional meaning for our clients. We focus on quinceañeras, weddings, family celebrations, and small business branding, offering designs that are both visually impactful and culturally meaningful.

What sets us apart is our unique blend of creativity, craftsmanship, cultural roots, and strategic communication.
We are two Latina women —Solange and Gilka— who combine creative direction, design, administration, and operations to deliver a personalized, thoughtful, and high-quality experience.

We are proud of building a brand that was born in Venezuela, rebuilt in the United States, and is now recognized for its attention to detail and strong commitment to the Hispanic community. We’ve been honored as Best of Georgia, invited to Univision and Telemundo, and embraced by families and entrepreneurs who value our mission: to bring their stories to life through design.

We want readers to know that La Tarjetería is not just an invitation studio —
it is a brand that creates memorable moments, empowers entrepreneurs, and celebrates our cultural identity with pride. Our offerings include custom invitations, digital and printed stationery, branding packages, business materials, personalized toppers, specialty printing, and creative solutions for both events and small businesses.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Atlanta is its multicultural energy. It’s a city that welcomes people who arrive with new dreams and allows you to feel at home even when you’re far from your country. Here we found community, support, and opportunities. Atlanta gave us the space to rebuild our lives and grow our business with purpose.

What I like the least is that, as a fast-growing city, it can sometimes feel overwhelming—especially with traffic and long travel times. But even with those challenges, Atlanta remains a warm, inclusive, and opportunity-filled place for us.
