Today we’d like to introduce you to WassaBee Mabuza.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started learning how to dj hiphop late 2023, I began independently on virtual dj and then later I took on a dj course which I managed to finish within 2 months. My first gig was in December of 2023. Ive been booked since then and got to perform on one of 2 of Africas Biggest festivals MTN Bushfire and Standard Bank Luju festivals where I got to work alongside big brand stages like Ballantines, Jagermeister and Corona. In 2025 I got to go play a live Dj set at YFM studios in Johannesburg and competed in a radio show on 5fm called 5Hiphop nights where I won 4 times in a row. I also got a feature on Africas biggest hiphop magazine “Hype Magazine” under the segment “Women in African hiphop” Its honestly been a phenomenal journey for me
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all I’ve faced various challenges in my career such as being underpaid, being taken advantage of, manipulated and not being taken serious which has been very frustrating. Ive also faced deception and betrayal but it has taught me to value my brand more and build a very strong character

Im dj and tapping into producing music , I specialize in Hiphop but I also tap into RnB and Afrobeat. Im known for bringing the heat, breaking boundaries, consistency, brand value and touching people’s hearts. Im most proud of putting my foot down and choosing myself, having brand standards and boundaries, walking my journey professionally and ethically and above all being recognized mainly for my great skills and not drama. What sets me apart the most is that my brand has value, im consistent, I naturally have the superstar aura and I have my own niche in the way I perform my dj sets and my brand image is screaming different original and very mysterious
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That as long as I don’t go through tough times, go through pain and face obstacles on my journey then I will never reach my full potential and purpose, without me choosing myself through boundaries, self respect and self love then I won’t get what I truly desire.
