Meet Hampton DJ, Movie Maker, Producer, and Actor: DJ Truth

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Truth.

DJ, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m from a town called Lafayette, Louisiana. Started djing in 2012 but always wanted to be a DJ. When I started, I learn how to screw and chop music. When I heard the Houston legend DJ Screw(RIP) screwing and chopping music I felt in love with the sound. So I took in the culture and add my flavor to it and called it the Truth Mix. Once I started doing music, two of my good friends Baker & C Flo came through and wanted to start recording songs then after we form a group called Da Truth Committee(DTC). Then I moved to Atlanta in 2015 to take my DJ career to the next level and still striving to it. But since I moved here me & my good friends Sayso & Twinbaby started writing & shooting movies and now we two movies in(Going Thru It) and multiple music videos too. Moving to Atlanta changed my perspective on life so I’m working harder than I ever did to make it to my goal and take care of my family. Be on the look for more to come with music and movies!

Has it been a smooth road?
Wasn’t a smooth road at all and there much more bumps to come down the road but nothing major that I couldn’t handle.

Any predictions for the industry over the next few years?
The next 5 years I see myself as a household name with music and movies. In music, I want to work with big artists, DJs, and producers. Work and help new upcoming artists and sign them to me & business partner Baker music group Da Truth Committee. With the movies, me & another business partner Sayso have taken our short film stories to television and creating a movie that will make it the big screen all over the world. Working with upcoming actors and actresses giving them chances that other people wouldn’t give them and building relationships that’s real.

Has there been a particular challenge that you’ve faced over the years?
The time I was broke with no job depending on family & friends and wanted to start my DJ career. In 2011, I got injured at my job that led me to have a case which played out so rough. I was married at that time and with everything that was going on lead me to a divorce and moving back with my parents pretty much starting from the bottom. It was a big challenge to deal with but when I got deep into the music, it was helping me cope with everything that was going on in my life at the time.

What would you tell someone who is just starting out?
My advice is to stay true to you, nobody can’t tell you what you want for your life, and grind as hard as you can. Stay consistent!
