Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle “Diamond” Nelson-Searcy.
Hi Michelle “Diamond”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is rooted in legacy, love, and alignment.
I am the daughter of two extraordinary parents whose influence shaped every step of the woman I’ve become. My mother, Valerie Drysdale, was my grounding force — the woman who saw the diamond in me long before it was ever polished. Her strength, faith, and quiet brilliance are the blueprint of my womanhood. My father, Barrington Nelson, a longtime wealth expert with Merrill Lynch and a respected Realtor, planted the seeds of entrepreneurship and excellence in my sisters and I. He is the reason property management became such a natural extension of my professional path.
I entered the media and PR world by following what felt aligned. What began as creative intuition grew into brand building, storytelling, and helping others amplify their voices with intention and truth. Over time, that path expanded into property management, community development, and ultimately the creation of Infinite Perspectives — a platform where storytelling, elevation, and purpose collide.
My journey hasn’t been linear. It was shaped by reinvention, resilience, loss, discovery, and a deep desire to serve. Every brand I build, every project I lead, and every space I curate is another way I honor the people who poured into me — especially my parents, whose legacy of integrity and strength informs every step I take.
Together, their examples created the blueprint — purpose, service, resilience, and excellence. I am simply expanding that lineage, elevating it, and adding my own chapter… one brand, one vision, and one aligned step at a time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth — but it’s been purposeful.
Some of my earliest lessons weren’t taught, they were survived. Childhood came with its own quiet traumas… the kind that make you grow up faster than you should, the kind that teach you to read a room before you learn to read a book. Those experiences shaped my resilience long before I understood the word.
My foundation in the Kingdom Hall also shaped me — discipline, service, humility, and community were pillars from a young age. Even when life took me through different chapters, those early teachings became the compass I still lean on.
Adulthood brought its own heartbreaks. Losing my mother and my Aunt Yvonne didn’t just shake me — they rearranged me. They were my anchor, my softness, my mirrors. Moving through life without two of the women who named the diamond in me became some of the deepest emotional challenges I’ve ever faced.
Then came the loss of my grandmother, Winnifred… and shortly after, my best friend of over 30 years, Miesha Harrison. They were the keepers of my history, my laughter, my secrets — the ones who held space for every version of me. Grieving them while still navigating life, motherhood, work, and purpose felt like learning how to walk again with a new center of gravity.
Professionally, stepping into media, brand elevation, and property management meant finding my footing in spaces where Black women with vision often have to work twice as hard to be heard. I’ve faced ideas being dismissed, partnerships lacking integrity, and situations where my creativity was taken without reciprocity. Reclaiming my voice and confidence was part of the climb.
And like many women balancing multiple roles — mother, wife, visionary, strategist — burnout, doubt, and overwhelm were real. But so was the calling on my life.
What kept me grounded was remembering why I started — and who poured into me.
My mother’s resilience, my father’s discipline and strategic mind, my children’s eyes watching everything I do, and the prayers and principles from my spiritual upbringing all became part of my armor.
So no — it hasn’t been smooth. But every trauma, every loss, every setback, and every disappointment refined me. Every chapter carved out the woman I am becoming. When I speak about alignment, purpose, and elevating vision… it’s because I’ve lived through the fire and learned how to turn ashes into direction.
And the most powerful part? I’m still rising. Not in spite of what I’ve lost, but because of everything — and everyone — who built me, sharpened me, and taught me how to shine with intention.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Mentorship, for me, has never been about titles — it’s been about alignment. The best mentors I’ve had weren’t always the loudest in the room; they were the ones whose presence matched the season I was in. Some came through family, some through faith, some through grief, and others through divine timing.
My mother was my first mentor. Not formally — but spiritually, emotionally, and through example. My father mentored me in discipline, strategy, and resilience without ever labeling it as such. And in adulthood, I learned that true mentors don’t always look like you expect. Some mentor through conversation, others through correction, and many through the way they live.
When it comes to finding mentors today, I believe in three things:
1. Seek alignment, not access.
A mentor should help you calibrate your purpose, not just your goals. Titles fade — alignment doesn’t.
2. Pay attention to character over clout.
Everybody looks successful online. But mentorship requires integrity, reciprocity, and a genuine desire to pour into someone else.
3. Remember that mentorship isn’t always a person — sometimes it’s a moment.
A book… a loss… a hard lesson… a closed door… those things have mentored me just as much as people have.
As for networking, what’s worked best for me is leading with authenticity. I don’t chase rooms; I move in purpose and the right rooms open. I build relationships, not transactions. People can feel when your intention is pure — and that has opened more doors for me than any “networking strategy” ever could.
“The right connections don’t compete with your spirit — they complement your purpose.”
My advice?
Stay aligned, stay intentional, and stay open. Mentors show up exactly when your growth calls for them.
